Edimax print servers for sale, namely:

package PS-1205MF with capability to use full functions of a
multi-function printer on one computer in the network (the rest of the
computers in the network can only use the printing function)
- PS-1205MF of the above without power adapter (for
those who already have spare 12V/500mA power adapter) - It is
this current item that you are viewing now;
- Full package PS-1205 (All of the computers in the
network can only use the
printing function - perfect for non multi-function printer)
- PS-1205 of the above without power adapter (for those
who already have spare 12V/500mA power adapter)

A Note On
Compatibility: Not all USB printers are compatible to this
print server, as reference, please refer to the following 2 lists:

However,
though rather extensive, the above lists only are the printers that
have been tested by the manufacturer, as there are too many makes of
printer in the market, and new ones are emerging everyday, it is
impossible to have truly comprehensive tests on all. Thus, as a general
guide:
- If your printer is listed in the incompatible list,
please do not buy this server, it won't work for you; And it is very
likely that your printer will not be able to be network-shared even
with other server, because it is basically non-server-friendly.
- If
your printer is listed in the compatible list under the OS you intend
to use, congratulation, kindly proceed if you would like to pruchase.
- If
your printer is not listed on both lists above, it is your decision if
you would like to buy one and find it out yourself, anyway, as you can
see, comparing the 2 lists, we can say that most of the USB printers
are compatible with this print server.
Important Note: For this package,
power
adapter is not included !
DC12V/500mA
Power Adapter with 5.5mm*2.5mm connector is a very common power adapter
that being used on a lot of electronics devices (especially of those
computer related), as the devices ended its life cycle, some of you
might have one or two of those "left-over" power adapter lying at the
conner of the drawer, it is time to put those adapter back to good use.
As long as the adapter fulfill the following criteria, it can be used
on this print server:
- Of decent quality (most power adapters
that come with computer related devices are as it is designed to be
used contiously non-stop)
- Output
of DC 12 Volts, minimum power rating 500mA (the higher the
better,
cannot be lower, refer to the adapter's label for these information)
- The
connector need to be of the size of 5.5mm (outer diameter)*2.5mm (the
diameter of the inner hole) - this is a very popular size, very likely

Now, About the
Print Server...
It
is common in today's office and home environment to
have
multiple computers in carrying out our day-to-day works and play,
however, when comes to printing, it is cost redundant and a waste of
precious space to have separate printers connected to each and every
single computer. Rather than the repeating act of connecting and
disconnecting your working computer to the shared printer everytime you
want to do a print, a more convenient and neat way is print
through a print server.
While
there are numerous of print servers available in the market, most of
the print server will no let you use the extra features of your
multi-function printer once connecting to the server. This is the area
where PS-1205MF stands out, for not only this print server allows the
multi-function printer to become a shared printing device on the
network, the PC
directly connecting to the print server still can use all functions of
the multi-function printer,
for example scan, copy, fax …etc. It offers printing flexibility and
manageability on your Local Area Network with an absolute minimum setup

A Side Note: By emphasizing on the
multi-function printers (some prefer to call it all-in-1 printer), it
does not mean this print server is not working well with
single-function printer - it works perfectly on single-function printer
as well, we are just telling its special feature of
enabling the user to access the full funtions of multi-function printer.

print server supports IPX, TCP/IP, AppleTalk, and NetBEUI protocols. It

Email Printing provides a new way of printing service. After
installation, Windows will establish a new Printer Driver which will
convert the printing document to an Email and send to the mail account
assigned by print server. Print server will periodically retrieve
Emails in the mail account and print it to the attached printer
directly.
