to see some acts of our local telant? Here are some. With the courtesy
of En. Abu Asari from KL, append please find 3 clips of his flying
acts, after merely few weeks of practicing using his after work spare
time, he was a total beginner and Cyclone Thunderbird was his first RC
heli. However, we are not telling you that flying Cyclone (in fact any
single tier propeller RC heli) is easy, besides his talent, he is of
daring type and has been very determined in practicing, he has suffered
from crashes, change quite a number of parts, too. Append quoting what
he said in our friendly email chats: "Colco
(Thunderbird) is
a super tough heli and it's very good for a beginner where crashes are
inevitable. I learn a lot from this heli...I learn the setup from
mistakes. that's why I have burnt 2 mixer boards, bented the main shaft
(manage to cure this), burnt 2 tail motors. That's what happen when you
learn by yourself. But no pain no gain :))...Yes it's difficult to
control them simultaneously since we are controlling 3 axis at the same
time. The challenge makes this hobby interesting and different from
other hobby." - He is sharing these clips with the
purpose of
encouraging more people to take up this challenging and interesting
hobby, not specifically for Colco Thunderbird, by RC heli as a whole.
Our heartfelt appreciation to brother Abu Asari for granting
his permission for us to use his Youtube links here.
FREQUENTLY
ASK QUESTIONS ON RC HELICOPTERS: HOW MANY CHANNELS ?
There are 3 main categories in the market:
2-Channel:
Basically it is a toy for children, only moving up-down and turning
left-right. 4-Channel:
A good starting point for RC hobbysts, it pose good challenges in
flying and is emotionally satisfying for people who is serious in the
hobby. It move up-down, front-back, turn left-right, and tilt
left-right, realistically emulate a real helicopter's movement, except
it does not do acrobatic stunts, such as flying upside down. 6 or 7-Channel:
Capable of doing what 4-channel do and has the ability to perform
aecrobatical moves, BUT those additional acts are of no use to
beginners and intermediate players, the aecrobatical moves need
ultra-high level of skills. Unless you are a highly-skilled expert,
6/7-channel model in a way is a burden for us to enjoy the hobby - it
complicates the tuning and control. WHICH MODEL TO GET
? We sell three models, ALL
ARE of 4-Channel type: Cyclone (a.k.a. Thunderbird), Lama &
Apache. Cyclone:
Comparatively Cyclone is more difficult to handle as compared to Hammer
and Apache, this is due to 2 reasons: 1) It flies on one pair of main
rotor as compared to co-axial double main rotor of Lama and Apache; 2)
the moving angle of the servo and rotors are bigger and more versatile,
this model is ideal for peoples who are taking the art or flying RC
Helicopter seriously and thinking of advance to higher-end
professional/acrobatic models, Cyclone will prepare you for those great
challenges because it operate on the same flying theories of those high
end models. Lama
& Apache:
Both models are working on same co-axial double main rotors principle,
it give us much more control in keeping the helicopter hovering, one
will need only minimum efforts in mastering the flying acts. Flying of
these two models will make ones to misconveive that flying RC
helicopter is an easy task indeed ^_^ The models mainly is for those
who just want to enjoy flying in the shortest possible time, and do not
want to spend much time in doing fine-tuning, however, it does not
prepare you with the skills necessary to handle the professional grade
RC Heli models. Comparing Apache to Lama, Apache
has an
artistic war-heli look which making it a collector item, too, it also
weigh heavier, thus, more stable in windy flying condition. Hope
the above helps in answering some of the questions you have in mind.
THE MOST ENDURING RC
HELICOPTER EVER MADE NOTICE:
This
product is not a toy, it is aeromodelling, successful bidder must have
responsibility to ensure no harm or damage occur to people or
properties during operations. WARNING: User
must be at age above 15 years old, inexperienced users are advisable to
start slow and low. For those who is seriously thinking
of taking up the RC Heli hobby, THIS IS THE BEST CHOICE ! Why?
The
Cyclone also popularly known as Thunderbird, it is widely know as the
most enduring helicopter available in the market, citing on of the
senior advisor on a RC Heli Forum: ".......RC
Helicopters are hard to fly. There
probably is no helicopter on the market that can take as much abuse as
the Cyclone......(however,
to master the RC Heli hobby) it will take spares and a lot of practice
to learn to fly. If you cannot accept this fact then get another hobby
now!.....Best of luck." - But than agian, this is what make the RC Heli
hobby so challenging and fulfilling. There is
wealth of
information on internet, even a dedicated forum site (link will be
provided to successful bidder) fill with tips and tricks to fly this
wonderful aeromodeling. Radio Controlled
helicopters are
complicated and a great challenge to fly, but the Cyclone is different.
The Cyclone's advanced electric circuitry has eliminated over 95% of
the necessary parts that make a conventional helicopter fly. Adjustment
and finetuning takes only about 20 minutes (advises on how-to will be
emailed to winning bidder), of course, to really master the art of
flying takes much much longer than mere 20 minutes. General Introduction to CLC
Thunderbird IV Helicopter: CLC
Thunderbird IV Wireless Controlled Electronic Helicopter is an
up-to-date high-tech product. It consists of three major sections:
helicopter mechanical structure (including fuselage, main rotor),
electronic control equipment (including battery, electronic mixed
controller, and gyroscope), and remote control unit (including remote
transmitter, receiver, and servo). It can simulate most flying
attitudes of modem helicopter, such as hanging in the air, rolling,
yawing, and moving forwars and backward. It offers unimaginable flying
performance and flying performance and flying time period to help you
make your flying dream come true. At the same time, it is compact, and
easy to operate. In particular, it's unique framework structure with
high strength offers high crash-resistance beyond comparison of any
other model helicopter, cutting your flying cost considerably.
This device uses 9.6V rechargable Ni-MHbattery for power supply. The
wingspan of main rotor is 510mm, the length of fuselage 480mm, maximum
flying-off weight 350g, and flying-off radius 100m. (Depend on the
flying environment). - Equipped with
precision electronic gyroscope to stabilized flying posture and provide
emulational flying effect.
- High-speed strong
magnetic motor is used to get powerful lift.
- Free
control of 360 degree, easy and simple manipulation.
