Great quality and very compact active (amplified) subwoofer. Mind you, this sub doesn't have a volume problem, as it can rocks the whole house. The sub is incredible—produces deep accurate bass sound. This high-power Powered-Subwoofer from B&W was manufactured/ Made in England (not made in China). . . Although most subs are used in Home Theatre systems — and this one would do an excellent job in that situation. It is also a good, musical subwoofer, and can be a great addition to a stereo music system where the main speakers don't go down to the bottom octave, or indeed the octave above that. The ASW-600 made a great musical partner for any standmount speakers—giving the music added depth and solidity, especially on drums and percussion, while filling in the fundamentals of notes that would otherwise only be recognised from their overtones. . . The ASW-600 is down at 26Hz (Frequency response ±3dB), which is below the lowest note of a bass guitar/double bass and only just above the lowest note of a piano. Its internal amplifier is rated at 150-watts continuous RMS power, and it's hard to imagine any ordinary music or theatre system ever needing all of it. . . . . This absolutely incredible sounding B&W ASW600 active subwoofer will literally shake your house down with the depths it can reach, and is crystal clear. . . The ASW600 active subwoofer adds a new depth to B&W's quest for perfect sound reproduction. . . . . It has been designed specifically to deliver a punchy and precise bass response so vital to a Home Cinema surround sound. This has been achieved only by use of the very highest quality components, together with technical innovations for which B&W is famous. . . The choice of inputs is line-level (gives best results for both music and movies) or speaker-level (for a stereo system that has no line-level output. There are controls for volume and phase, auto switching off and on — does auto power switching very nicely, it auto switched off when there was no sound for 5 mins, even with the sub amp left powered on. . .
