High quality from the maximum 2400X1200 dpi high resolution
FINE stands for "Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering" . These technologies simultaneously realize both super high-resolution and high-speed printings. The high-precision print heads are manufactured by utilizing the latest semiconductor manufacturing technology to provide an integrated nozzle design. Also, the ink ejection technology achieves size uniformity of 4pl micro fine droplet and droplet placement accuracy. FINE achieves the essential elements for large format printing with high quality such as 2400 x 1200 dpi high-resolution, smoother gradation, and reduction of graininess. At the same time, its high-drive frequency also contributes to high-speed printing.
Combining clear letters and lines and vivid colors
Black lines and letters can be presented clearly with minimal blurring due to the reaction (reactive) of the pigment "matte black ink" and the pigment color inks. This supports a variety of applications from CAD/GIS to the office with the ability to perform the optimum image handling for each individual object of a business document or poster comprised of text, lines, graphs, drawings and pictures.
LUCIA
Canon developed its LUCIA pigment inks to meet professional demand for fine-art-quality printing that can render natural tones in color and black-and-white for photos while also producing vivid artificial colors for industrial design output.
In addition to the six standard colors for large format printers, LUCIA employs three primary colors - red, green, and blue (RGB) - and two shades of gray. This has improved total imaging performance, making possible enhanced metallic glossiness, reduced graininess, and more robust images.

Five-Color Dye and Pigment Inks for High-Definition CAD Printing
Reactive Ink Technology
Developed for printing CAD and business documents, Canon's reactive ink technology exploits the reaction between CMYK dye inks and pigment-based matte black ink to prevent blurring along the edges of text characters and lines. When combined, five-color dye and pigment reactive inks create clear, crisp black output, making possible the printing of ultra-fine lines and ultra-small text with a placement accuracy of ±0.1% and a minimum line width of 0.02 mm.
Precision Printing: High-Density PF-04 Print Head
Engineered for speed and advanced image production, this printer boasts Canon's latest print-head technology to lay down ink with unprecedented speed and accuracy. The new PF-04 print head incorporates a new nozzle shape to reduce satellite ink, producing cleaner lines and text, and minimizing mist. The high-precision, high-density print head, with a total of 15,360 nozzles, lays down 4 picoliter-size ink droplets that produce sharp detail and excellent image quality. The result is consistently accurate 2400 x 1200 dpi output with fine lines that are accurate to ±0.10% and as thin as 0.02mm.
Auto-Color Calibration
Large-format printers are often used for professional applications such as artwork and photo output. Previously, troublesome color management processes were necessary to reproduce colors as intended by the creators of the data, but Canon's auto-color calibration function performs these adjustments automatically.
High-performance multi-sensors inside the printer examine print results during pattern printing and optimize printer density characteristics to achieve stable color performance.
Pattern Printing for Auto-Color Calibration
With the intelligence to rapidly handle large volumes of image data
Output a A0-size (33"x47") drawing in approximately 46 seconds. When you need to keep projects moving forward and meet deadlines, this kind of speed is critical. Powering these incredible print speeds is Canon's L-COA (Large Format Printer COmmon Architecture) print controller, driving the imagePROGRAF print engine to lay down ink with exceptional speed and precision. This unique, high-speed processor enables the print system to process large volumes of data while optimizing output of complex high-color GIS images and architectural renderings for maximum readability and color accuracy.
This printer was designed to be space-saving and environmentally conscious. This printer carries a small footprint with fully front-accessible operation for flush wall installation that fits into almost any environment. And loading roll media is simple with built-in loading guide rails and an automatic roll feeder. Made with less plastic, and reduced CO2 emissions, this model has earned ENERGY STAR qualification, and draws only 140 watts of power during use.
Features a slide-in loading system in which paper rolls are first placed on top of the printer, then slid in along guide rails. Rolls are loaded at a point easily accesible from the front of the printer for easy loading from a natural posture.

^^^^^^^^^^
First imagePROGRAF 36 inch models to use individual subtanks for each ink color within the printer. Constantly reserving a preset ink level in the subtank lets users replace ink tanks without having to stop printing. Even when ink runs out unexpectly, users can continue printing using just the subtanks. (Example: equivalent to approximately 80 sheets of A1 plain paper for monochrome drawings*). This also enables full use of ink tank contents, eliminating waste ink.
Standard supprt for Gigabit Ethernet and Hi-Speed USB allows high-speed transfers of large data volumes.
The Status Monitor includes accounting functions to collect printer job log information and calculate printing costs. This collects job logs to identify who printed what document from what printer and calculates the number of pages and sheets printed together with printing costs.
imagePROGRAF includes Windows and other dedicated drivers supporting industry-standard CAD application software.
An HDI driver is provided for AutoCAD, which is used for color printing of structural floor plans and perspective drawings in architecture and civil engineering. The printers also include HP-GL/2 for high-end CAD applications such as board wiring layouts in electronics and circuit design, and engineering drawings produced by mechanical design departments in the automotive, aviation, and precision device industries.
Increased line and text visibility and clearer color separation of HP/GL-2 color palette.
Capable of producing output with colors similar to previous imagePROGRAF Series or other CAD inkjet printers, ensuring efficient job output even when used alongside or in place of other printers.
The imagePROGRAF printer driver 2009 includes two dedicated CAD setting modes to ensure optimum printing of CAD drawings: CAD (Color Line Drawing) and CAD (Monochrome Line Drawing). Likewise, the 1,200 dpi rendering mode and distance accuracy of ±0.1%* enables high precision of lines, down to a minimum width of 0.02mm**. This makes possible the fine line drawing and text printing demanded for CAD output, producing smoother straight and curved lines and text that remains crisp even at small sizes.
* : User adjustments necessary. Printing environment and media to be printed must match that used for the adjustments. CAD paper only.
** : Theoretical value. Results may vary according to data resolution.
Includes an Economy printing mode* using approximately half the ink used for Draft mode, useful for checking layouts, etc.
* : Using plain paper, tracing paper, or translucent matte film only. May not be available for certain print quality settings.
Comes with a dedicated imagePROGRAF HDI driver for the industry-standard Autodesk AutoCAD used in architecture and design. Users accustomed to printing using HDI/ADI drivers will find print work operations unchanged when using the imagePROGRAF HDI driver.
Supports the HP-GL/2 and HP RTL pare description languages used for CAD applications, enabling use with a wide range of CAD applications.
The HP-GL/2 functions have been expanded to include pen settings on the printer operation panel allowing changes in pen line width, color, and intersection shape.
The following two functions are included to ensure efficient use of output paper. Nesting* allowing printing with minimal paper by efficiently arranging drawing data of various sizes on the roll paper. Auto Rotation** to automatically rotate drawing data to suit the output paper width and minimize wasted space when printing.
* : HP-GL/2 and HP RTL data only
** : HP-GL/2 data only
