The original Chord interconnect. Featuring four copper conductors and polyethylene insulation. . . This is directional (DIN to RCA). A well made cable from The Chord Company, U.K. All connectors were factory terminated. If you know anything about cables, you will know that Chord produce some of the best stuff on the market and compliment  Naim components outstandingly well. .. . . Chord Chrysalis interconnect 1.0m 4-pin DIN to 2x Phono (RCA) plugs. . Suitable for use with Hi-Fi equipment that has 4-pin DIN input sockets such as Naim, Quad, Meridian, A&R, Armstrong, etc. It enables CD player, turntable and other equipment that use Phono connectors to be interfaced with classic European Hi-Fi equipment. The Chord Chrysalis RCA plugs have SILVER-plated contacts and nickel-plated bodies. The Din plugs have SILVER-plated contact pins. 2-pairs are available for sale. They are demo cables. Suitable for use between Naim component and non-Naim hifi equipment, and was the one of the first Chord Company interconnects. Naim's slogan is "World class sound...". A phrase that has always been associated with Naim hi-fi equipment. It is a safe bet for anyone who wants to connect a piece of equipment with RCA sockets to an amplifier fitted with Din sockets. (These are mainly found on Naim and Quad amplifiers). Chrysalis will always work with Naim in RCA to Din configuration.         . . . . . . . . . . How does it sound?. The design of Chrysalis cable produces a slight attenuation of treble and a slight roll-off of low bass. This causes the mid-range to be pushed forward and this emphasises the rhythm and coherence of music. Chrysalis is the only interconnect some U.K. retailers sell.   . . Description: Featuring four copper conductors and polyethylene insulation. Colour: Grey Conductors Signal: 7 Strands copper, diameter .3mm Via shield. Insulation Internal: Treated PVC Outer Jacket: Matt finish PVC. Shield Lapped Copper. Construction 4 lapped cores within outer jacket. Termination RCA/Phono plugs, Silver plated signal contacts and Teflon insulation. All connections made with high silver content solder. . What is it? Chrysalis cable has four separately insulated, stranded conductors inside a grey PVC jacket. Each conductor has its own lapped shield so it can be thought of as four coaxial cables inside one outer jacket. A lapped shield means that fine copper wires are wound around the insulation surrounding the conductor in such a way that they overlap each other. This means that when the cable is bent, the shield still covers the conductor properly. The conductors are stranded oxygen free copper. Normal copper has between 500 and 750 parts per million of oxygen in its make up. This will cause the copper to oxidise and resistance to increase along the length of the cable. The lapped shield is also oxygen free copper. The insulation that surrounds the conductor is made from polyethylene. The outer jacket is grey PVC. . Terminations         . . . . . . . Chrysalis cable can be terminated with RCA plugs, Din Plugs and BNC plugs. The RCA plugs have silver plated contacts and nickel-plated bodies. The Din plugs have silver plated contact pins. The BNC plugs have silver plated contacts and bodies. . Most of the time we fit gold plated plugs to copper cable and silver plated plugs to silver cables. However when Chrysalis cables were first made they were fitted with nickel-plated plugs. Nickel is not only a poor conductor but it also oxides rapidly and becomes highly resistant quickly. We experimented with a silver plated plug and found that this dealt with both problems and also sounded better. Din plugs and sockets have always been silver plated and although we did experiment with gold plated plugs, we could not hear any improvement. . .
