Some General
Background Information On Power Adapters:
A
switching-mode power supply is a power supply that provides the power
supply function through low loss components such as capacitors,
inductors, and transformers ^^ and the use of switches that are in one
of two states, on or off. The advantage is that the switch dissipates
very little power in either of these two states and power conversion
can be accomplished with minimal power loss, which equates to high
efficiency.
How to judge whether this adapter is suitable for your device:
- Make
sure the connector/plug match your device (refer to the specification
below). You can opt to change the plug by soldering a new plug or
simply cut the cable in between and connect it to you old spoiled
adapter's plug, but please note these modification will be ALL AT YOUR
OWN RISK.
- Make
sure the voltage (V) of your device match this adapter's output voltage
(V)
supply, over-supply of voltage will definitely damage the device,
under-voltage sometimes might harm too.
- Make sure you device's
current requirement in term of Ampere (A) is below this
adapter's
rated output current. Conversion: 1A = 1000mA. Close-match will be
ideal, over-supply normally won't harm the device, but never
under-supply.
