    HT155 Charge Monitor For 12V Rechargeable Battery / Electronics Kit

    Introduction

    HT155 is a Charge Monitor for 12Vdc rechargeable battery which can be used to monitor the charge level of battery continuously in order to extend the battery life. As per manufacturer's data sheets, a 12V rechargeable lead acid battery should be operated within 10.1V and 13.8V. When the battery charges higher than 13.8V it is said to be overcharged. When it discharges below 10.1V it can be deeply discharged. This can bring down the charge holding capacity of a battery by 15 to 20%.

    A buzzer is wired in the circuit such that it sounds whenever there is a overcharge or deep discharged.

    Assembly Instructions

    • Check off the components in the package against the component listing before assembly.
    • Start with the smallest components working up to the taller components, soldering any interconnection wires last.
    • Place and Solder the components into the board, make sure the components are in right position according to the overlay of PCB.

     

    Test & Adjustment 

    • After assembled, please check & ensure the value & polarity for all components were inserted into PCB correctly, wrong polarity connections of capacitors can cause explosion or failure.
    • Next, ensure all these leads are soldered, no solder bridges between adjacent pads and no dry joint.
    • Once confirmed, connect the power source to the circuit board and conduct a calibration, adjustable power supply and multimeter are required.
    • For Calibrating the lower reference voltage, follow steps given below:

             1. Set the output of Power Supply source to 10.1V

             2. Connect the power supply source to the circuit board

             3. Now the display will show some reading. At this point vary preset (P2) until the reading on the display just changes from 1 to 0.

     

    • For Calibrating the higher reference voltage, follow steps given below:

             1. Set the output of Power Supply source to 13.8V

             2. Connect the power supply source to the circuit board 

             3. Varying preset (P1) until reading on the display just changes from 8 to 9

    • Calibration is completed and user can connect it to the battery to determine the charge level of battery and shown the reading on the seven segment. Example: The lower reference voltage of 10.1V is ranked "0" and the upper voltage of 13.8V is ranked as "10".  If the display shows 4, it means that the battery is charged to 40% of its maximum value of 13.8V.
