Excellent audiophile power amp from Naim giving great performance with stunning good looks. This is a perfect match for any Naim pre-amplifier. . The 150 is in mint, unmarked cosmetic condition. . A pre-amp/power amp combo will normally be able to “eek more” out of a pair of speakers than an integrated amplifier will. Usually, removing the pre-section from the power amp and moving it away from the huge mains transformer that the power section needs will usually bring many “benefits” to a good hi-fi system. You will notice that the integrated amplifier route does not give the same “separation” and “detail” as the pre/power amps combo route. Complicated music is also “easier to follow” on the pre/power combo. . Naim has built it's reputation on producing World Class Hi-Fi, and this power amplifier is a perfect example. .     . The NAP150's good looks and compact dimensions discretely house an extremely fast, powerful and musical amplifier. . It uses the new 5-Series die-cast chassis - how satisfying, heavy and solid it is - with a clean, quality, solid, masculine look. . During active duty, the Naim logo on the amplifier's front panel light up tastefully backlit in green to let you know that power is flowing through the system. . Designed with meticulous attention to detail, it sets new standards in its class with performance and flexibility to match. . The heart of the amp circuit is a version of the world class NAP 500 with a substantial and very quiet power supply using a custom designed and manufactured toroidal transformer. .   Provides a smooth 50 watts per channel giving you a clear dynamic sound, but as many a Naim at many a time has proven, 50-watts is “more than enough”. With a 250VA transient voltage capability, the NAP 150 is, on paper, not short of breath, and as listening proved, is not in real world terms either - as one can miss-takenly thought that this amp's power output is well over 100-Watts. To me, part of this amplifier's appeal is that they manage to sound as big as any over 100-watts amps. Using Naim amplification - you will get “lovely open sound”. The sound is still unmistakably Naim – there is still that Naim sense of dynamics, a knack for pace, rhythm, timing and gilt-edged slam. Those sterling qualities that have always made Naims, well, Naims. The old Naim amps used to be a fussy lot with regard to partnering equipment, especially with regard to loudspeakers; the NAP 150 is less so, and indeed is the best I have worked with yet. It is all about speed, slam and muscle. From a musical perspective, the blend of the brand’s old world charm are still here, capturing the necessary elements that make music musical; good pace and timing. . When you listen through the Naim gear, it's almost impossible not to enjoy what you're listening to.
