1. Chicago - Chicago 17 — RM65 . Genre: Soft rock, Adult Contemporary
“Chicago 17” reached No.4 in the US during a chart stay of "72 weeks".
It also peaked at No.24 in the UK.
It is the 17th album by American rock band Chicago and was released in 1984.
“Chicago 17” capitalized on its predecessor's popularity by delivering their most popular album - currently seven times platinum in the US alone and a Grammy winner - and one which would spin off four Top 20 US hit singles, including the spare-sounding synth-rocker "Stay the Night" (No.16), ballads "Hard Habit to Break" (No.3) and "You're the Inspiration" (No.3), and the bouncy dance-inflected "Along Comes a Woman" (No.14).
“Chicago 17” would once again spell a turning point for the group, as this would be the last studio album with bassist, vocalist, and founding member Peter Cetera.
Produced again by David Foster, the album expanded on the adult contemporary, swelling Chicago's audience as a result.

In an interview in 1998, the four members of Culture Club agreed that “Colour by Numbers” was their best work.
Allmusic's rated the album 4 1/2 out of five stars: "The songs were infectious, the videos were all over MTV, and the band was a media magnet." It was "flamboyant, fun, sexy, soulful, colorful, androgynous, and carefree" like other 1980s music. . . . . . .

. . . 4. Whodini - Escape — RM55 . Cyrus
Genre: Funk, Rap, Hip hop
“Escape” is the second album by hip-hop group Whodini, released in 1984 on the Jive label. The album spawned the hit singles "Five Minutes of Funk," "Friends," and "Freaks Come Out at Night".
One of the most landmark (and rightly so) rap albums ever.
In 1998, the album was selected as one of "The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums".
In 2008, the song "Freaks Come out at Night" was ranked number 71 on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop".
RELEASED IN JULY OF 1984 AND IT STILL SOUNDS GREAT UNTIL THIS DAY!
Track listing:
1. "Five Minutes of Funk" 2. "Freaks Come Out At Night" 3. "Featuring Grand Master Dee" 4. "Big Mouth" 5. "Escape (I Need a Break)" 6. "Friends" 7. "Out of Control" 8. "We Are Whodini"
In 1984, rap was a fresh and exciting new form of music, and this album is certainly one of the greatest of the early rap 'classics'.
The members of Whodini have good, clear voices that sound more like a guy you'd want to be friends with, rather than many of the thug rappers today, who sound more like they hate everybody and everything.
Another great thing about this album and Whodini is that they're not obsessed about se x, dru gs, violence, or being filthy-rich. Most of the songs are upbeat and positive, and even the street tale "Freaks Come Out At Night" is delivered with cautionary positivity. "Five Minutes Of Funk" is one of rap's great early 'classics'.
If want to be considered a "real" rap aficionado, you should not be without this album. This album was undoubtley one of the top rap albums of 1984-1985.
All of Whodini's big hits are on this one album. Their best work! .. . . .
5. Daryl Hall & John Oates - Bigger Than Both Of Us — RM55 . Cyrus
Genre: Pop rock, Blue-eyed soul
Hall & Oates are an American musical duo composed of Daryl Hall and John Oates. They achieved their greatest fame in the late 1970s and early to mid-1980s. Both sing and play instruments.
They specialized in a fusion of rock and roll and rhythm and blues styles, which they dubbed "rock and soul."
Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine write, "at their best, Hall & Oates' songs were filled with strong hooks and melodies that adhered to soul traditions by incorporating elements of new wave and hard rock." On some of their tours and concerts, established soul and blues artists performed in the duo's band.
Their "...smooth, catchy take on Philly soul brought them enormous commercial success" in the 1970s and 1980s.
They are best known for their six No.1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Rich Girl", "Kiss on My List", "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", and "Out of Touch", as well as many other songs which charted in the Top 40.
They last reached the pop charts top 40 in 1990 and slowly faded from public view, though they did not formally break up. They have continued to record and tour.
In total, the duo had 34 singles chart hits on the US Billboard Hot 100. Hall and Oates have seven RIAA Platinum albums, along with six RIAA Gold albums.
In 2003, Hall and Oates were inducted into the "Songwriters Hall of Fame".
Billboard Magazine had Hall & Oates at No.15 on their list of the "100 greatest artists of all time" and the No.1 duo.
VH1 placed the duo as No.99 on their list of the "100 greatest artists of all time".
“Bigger Than Both of Us” is the fifth album by Daryl Hall and John Oates, released in 1976. The album included the first of their six No.1 singles on Billboard's Hot 100, "Rich Girl".
Track listing:
1."Back Together Again" 2."Rich Girl" 3."Crazy Eyes" 4."Do What You Want, Be What You Are" 5."Kerry" 6."London Luck & Love" 7."Room to Breathe" 8."You'll Never Learn" 9."Falling" . .
6. Daryl Hall & John Oates - Big Bam Boom — RM65 . Cyrus
Genre: Pop, Rock, Dance-rock, New wave Style: Pop Rock, Synth-pop
Singing and songwriting duo Daryl Hall and John Oates were one of America's most popular acts in the early 80s. Hall and Oates had always been terrific at integrating the genres of Rock and Soul in their music.
By the time 1984 rolled around, Daryl Hall and John Oates clearly had established themselves as one of the premier duos in the history of the Pop Music era.
“Big Bam Boom” was the twelfth studio album by Daryl Hall & John Oates, released on RCA late in 1984. It marked the end of one of the most successful album runs by a duo of the 1980s.
They produced a terrific sound - one that they would never match in their subsequent releases. This is one of the best albums of the 80's, a perfect blend of rock and rhythm and blues. Hall's voice has never been stronger, and Oates guitar riffs are superb. Hall & Oates were, and will forever be, the greatest pair in the rock and roll era!
The album is also considered a record that defines the sound of the 1980s.
“Big Bam Boom” would not only be a commercial success, but many long-time critics of Hall and Oates would now come around and give them the critical acclaim that they so much deserved. This acclaim is well justified - this is one terrific album collection.
The song "Out Of Touch" (the first single) was a No.1 pop hit, and charted in several other areas (No.24 Hot Black Singles, No.8 on the Adult Contemporary charts and No.1 on the Dance charts, No.48 in the UK).
Another song taken from the album, the Daryl Hall/Janna Allen-penned "Method Of Modern Love" reached a high point of No.5.
Big Bam Boom peaked at No.5 and sold over "three million copies" worldwide.

7. Bardeux - Bold As Love — RM55. . Cyrus
Artist: Bardeux Title Of Album: Bold As Love Genre: Electronic, Dance-Pop Style: Hi NRG, Downtempo, Synth-pop Year: 1988
Synth electronic dance music with this female duo. If you love heavy synth dance music of the 80s, then you will assuredly love this LP.
The duo, Stacy "Acacia" Smith and Lisa "Jaz" Teaney, are two impossibly gorgeous women who know how to make music. Their energetic singing plus the robust musicianship that anchors their songs (especially "Magic Carpet Ride") equals what should have been a long and successful career as a formidable pair of freestyle dance divas.
Tracklist:
Magic Carpet Ride Three Time Lover Caution Bleeding Heart You're My Only Kind Of Lover Hold Me, Hold Me Dancing In The Wind Se x Machine When We Kiss
Bardeux takes you on a "Magic Carpet Ride" with “Bold As Love”. You will also like the songs "Hold Me, Hold Me", "Three Time Lover", "Dancing In The Wind", "Bleeding Heart", "When We Kiss", and "You're My Only Kind Of Lover".
Bardeux made two good albums in 1988 and 1989. But this first album was a smartly done album of dance music. I liked "Magic Carpet Ride" and several dance numbers. "Caution" is one romantic little song, one of my favorites. "Three Time Lover" stands out with the lower register vocals and A and J handle it very well.
But one song, which was a Top 20 hit in 1988 is "When We Kiss" as Bardeux raps on this song over sparse Casio-like keyboards. To me, it's like the female answer to LL Cool J's '87 song "I Need Love", the first rap ballad to be a major hit. It's done in nearly the same kind of romantic style of LL, but with a female touch. It still sounds sexy and seductive. "When we kiss" was a smash and perhaps the best song on the album. This song is really the true testament of Bardeux. It was one of the best songs to come out of the '80s.
Bardeux should be credited for doing their thing and getting their music out there to the masses. Put this on at your party and dance to the music. . . . .
8. Tommy Tutone - Tommy Tutone-2 — RM55 . Genre: Power-pop, Rock “Tommy Tutone-2” is the 2nd. album of the rock group, ‘Tommy Tutone’. It featured the band's biggest hit, "867-5309/Jenny" In October 2006, VH1 listed "867-5309/Jenny" as the 36th. ‘greatest song of the 1980s’. Tracklist: Side 1 1."867-5309/Jenny" 2."Baby It's Alright" 3."Shadow on the Road Ahead" 4."Bernadiah" 5."Why Baby Why" Side 2 1."Which Man Are You" 2."No Way to Cry" 3."Steal Away" 4."Tonight" 5."Only One" 6."Not Say Goodbye" Cyrus ‘Tommy Tutone’ made three albums in the early 80s, and had one smash hit single, "867-5309/Jenny", which was from their second album, “Tommy Tutone-2”. The first album is pretty good, a 3-star effort, but it is on the ‘5-star’ second album “Tommy Tutone-2” where they really shine. There is little music in the same genre today that can match this stuff !! This is the best ‘Best of Tommy Tutone’. A genuine ‘diamond’ that begs to be played over and over. “Tommy Tutone-2” is a great album. His style was ‘Rock-n-Roll’ in the package of ‘New Wave’. That's because of the keyboards used on the songs. There is a lot of great songs on this LP, unfortunately everything has been overlooked because of his massive hit "867-5309/Jenny"! If you like that song his style is similar on all the other tunes. “Tommy Tutone-2” album contained an array of power pop-music with hooks and an edge. The depth of the songwriting on “Tommy Tutone-2” is much deeper than the lyrics for "867-5301/Jenny" would have you believe. There are at least five or six great tunes on this LP. "867-5309/Jenny" is their best-known song and may also be their best. But songs like "Baby It's Alight", "Shadow On The Road Ahead", "Why Baby Why", "Which Man Are You" and "No Way To Cry" among others, are worth a serious listen as they stand out. And "867-5309/Jenny" is a hoot of a party song!.
. . . 9. Quiet Riot - Metal Health — RM75 . Cyrus
Genre: Heavy metal. Label: ChrysalisPasha / Sony / Columbia. Released: 1983. . Quiet Riot is an American heavy metal band. They are best known for their hit singles "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Metal Health". They are ranked at number 100 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". . Metal Health is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Quiet Riot. It was released on March 11, 1983, bolstered by the No.5 hit "Cum on Feel the Noize" and the No.31 hit "Metal Health". It knocked The Police's Synchronicity out of No.1 in the U.S. The album went on to sell more than 6 million copies and it is considered a 'classic' among heavy metal fans to this day. The title track was ranked No.35 on Vh1's 40 Greatest Metal Songs. . . Album .Metal Health . Chart (1983) ...................................................Peak Position .................Total Weeks Canadian Albums Chart ........................5 ..........53 New Zealand Albums Chart .................33 ...........6 U.S. Billboard Hot 200 .............................1 ...........74 . This is the first metal album to hit No.1 on the charts. I certainly would rank Metal Health as one of the greatest albums of all time. All the songs are great. "Metal Heath" is indeed a Metal classic. I played this thing to death when it first came out on vinyl. Big drums, crunchy guitars, thumping bass, and screaming vocals along with a number of great tunes. Quiet Riot's Metal Health is a genre-defining album that any metalhead must own, if for nothing more than the title track. Metal Health will drive you mad, because you'll wonder why this uber-talented band could never make another release this good. An absolute classic album! .. . . . .

Emerging from Cleveland, Ohio, the group's biggest hit songs include the Grammy Award-winning "Let It Whip" (1982), "Joystick" (1983), and "Let It All Blow" (1984). The name of the band is a portmanteau of the description "danceable jazz".

Dazz Band A Cleveland based funk group, formed by Bobby Harris in the late '70s. Harris merged two Cleveland funk bands: Bell Telefunk and Mother Braintree.
After an indefinite number of lineup changes, the end result was a band featuring Harris, Skip Martin III, Pierre DeMudd on horns and vocals, guitarist Eric Fearman, the late bassist Michael Wiley, drummer Isaac Wiley, keyboardist Kevin Frederick, and percussionist.
The group's biggest breakthrough came with the album “Keep It Live” (1982), containing the hit "Let It Whip" — which reached No. 1 on the R&B charts and won a Grammy Award for "Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals".
They would go on to score R&B hits with the songs "Party Right Here" (1983), "Joystick" (1984), and "Let It All Blow" (which was also their biggest UK hit single, peaking at No.12) (1984).. . . . . . 14. Poco - Live — RM55 . Cyrus
Genre: Country Rock (same like The Eagles)
Poco “Live” is the 10th. album, and 2nd. live album, by an American country rock band ‘Poco’. This is a great live country-rock album.
‘Poco’ was the first great country rock band, or the second (I can’t recall whether ‘The Flying Burrito Brothers’ beat them to the punch or not). Both lost the race to the top of the charts to ‘The Eagles’, who came later.
‘Poco’ was a great band, combining good songwriting, stellar playing, harmonies, and a beat you could dance to. They also had a reputation as a superb live band.
‘Poco’ started creating that very special West Coast mix of country, folk and rock that later bands like ‘The Eagles’ got rich on.
The release of this album produced confusion in the marketplace over whether this or “Rose of Cimarron” was Poco's newest album, helping sales of Poco “Live” and hurting sales of “Rose of Cimarron”.
‘Poco’ bassist Jim Messina left the group and later became a founding member of ‘The Eagles’. Later another band member, Schmit quit to join ‘The Eagles’.
I was stunned to learn that Schmidt who sang the top harmonies when he went to ‘The Eagles’ was only the second-highest harmony singer in ‘Poco’.
Track listing:
1. "Medley: Blue Water / Fools Gold / Rocky Mountain Breakdown" 2. "Bad Weather" 3. "Ride The Country" 4. "Angel" 5. "High And Dry" 6. "Restrain" 7. "A Good Feelin' To Know"
‘Poco’ really rock out on this 1975 “Live” album with the Fabulous Four (Paul, Rusty, Tim and George).
On the first track, a medley, pedal steel guitarist Rusty Young shows his incredible instrumental versatility switching with extreme ease from pedal steel to banjo and back again, whilst singing complicated four-part harmonies! The guitar playing is Excellent. Truly they are great musicians.
It is essential to anyone who prefers the upbeat, tight harmony country rock that was Poco's trademark.
The band enjoyed several placings in the U.S. Top 20 charts. Put a smile on. Listen to some ‘Poco’. . . . . 15. Poco - Ghost Town — RM55 . Genre: Country Rock (same as THE EAGLES)
“Ghost Town” is the 17th album by an American country rock band ‘Poco’, released in 1982.
“Ghost Town” was the 1st. ‘Poco’ album for Atlantic Records. Known for their AOR (Album Oriented Rock) prowess.
This album is nothing short of a ‘masterpiece’. From start to finish, you sense a ‘Poco’ meets “Hotel California” moment.
NOTE: Bassist Jim Messina and Timothy B. Schmit left the group and joined ‘The Eagles’.
The title track is the most impressive song. "Ghost Town" is a powerful, intense track with a haunting sound and lyrics and a good metaphor for lost love. This song alone is practically worth buying the album for.
The album's opening title cut, featuring both Paul Cotton and Randy Young on lead vocals is a testimony to the creative power of this duo, who should be recognized for pioneering the marriage between ‘country and rock’ well before Glenn Frey and Don Henley from ‘The Eagles’ made it fashionable.
The band rocks out on the made for AOR "How Will You Feel Tonight?" with Paul Cotton stradling the line between country rock and polished pop. "Shoot For The Moon" is "Crazy Love" part II, a great soft rock tune. The song peaked in the Top 50.
"The Midnight Rodeo", "Cry No More", "Break of Hearts" and "Special Care" are all great slices of country pop rock with big hooks and sensitive lyrics.
Paul Cotton and Randy Young shine on this album and the band is smooth, tight and creative. This is a special collection. It captures the revamped ‘Poco’ at a creative apex.
If you don't own a ‘Poco’ LP, buy this one first. Every song is a winner.
Track listing:
1. Ghost Town 2. How Will You Feel Tonight 3. Shoot For The Moon 4. "The Midnight Rodeo (In The Lead Tonight) 5. Cry No More 6. Break Of Hearts 7. Love's So Cruel 8. Special Care 9. When Hearts Collide 10. High Sierra
An overall enjoyable collection of songs, and well-worth getting, even if you're not a ‘Poco’ fan.
. . . . 16. Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn — RM55 . Cyrus
Cyrus
Genre: Progressive rock
“Ommadawn” is the 3rd. record album by Mike Oldfield, released in 1975 on Virgi n Records. It peaked at "No.4" on the UK Albums Chart.
As with “Hergest Ridge” and “Tubular Bells”, “Ommadawn” is another two-movement work. Oldfield sought out the ancient Celtic influence on English music and composed for traditional instruments such as uilleann pipes on the original LP version.
Oldfield involved musicians noted for their work in folk music including Clodagh Simonds and Paddy Moloney. He combined this with heavy African influences, mainly by the use of the drummers of Jabula.
This makes “Ommadawn” one of the first successful world music albums in Europe.
Two electric guitars which feature on the album are a red ‘Gibson SG Junior’ and a blonde ‘Fender Telecaster’. Oldfield appears to have been using two electric bass guitars at the time; a ‘Fender Precision’ and a ‘Gibson EB-3’.
Track listing:
All music written by Mike Oldfield.
Side one 1."Ommadawn, Part one" – 19:14
Side two 1."Ommadawn, Part two" – 17:17
The multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield played most of the instruments on the album (see below), recording them one at a time and layering the recordings to create the finished work.
- Acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, banjo, bouzouki, bodhrán, classical guitar, electric bass, electric guitars, electronic organs, glockenspiel, harp, mandolin, percussion, piano, spinet, steel guitar, synthesizers, twelve-string guitar and vocals.
“Ommadawn” remains one of Oldfield's favorite works. Here there added Irish and African influences. Oldfield looked towards composition on traditional instruments. Featuring folk legends Clodagh Simons and Paddy Moloney as well as African drummers, Jabula.
“Ommadawn” is a work of great beauty, established the fact that there was much more to Mike Oldfield than “Tubular Bells”. . .
. . . 17. Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells — RM55 . Cyrus
Genre: Electronic, Progressive Rock
Back in 1973, people bought two albums - Pink Floyd's “DSOTM” & Mike Oldfield's “Tubular Bells”.
This album takes you to places, to sounds and feelings that no other Tubullar Bells LPs has ever been able to reproduce, as well as no other Oldfield, to that matter.
There are many versions, however purchase this original version first, because there is simply nothing comparable to it.
“Tubular Bells” is the album most identified with Mike Oldfield, the multi instrumentalist laid down a landmark in music with his 1973 album.
Oldfield played most of the instruments on the album, recording them one at a time and layering the recordings to create the finished work.
CHARTS and AWARDS:
“Tubular Bells” stayed in the British charts for 279-weeks. It climbed the charts slowly but steadily, and did not reach No.1 for over a year. In doing so it displaced Oldfield's second album, “Hergest Ridge”, which had been at No.1 for 3-weeks. This made Oldfield one of only three artists in the UK to beat himself to the top of the album charts.
The album sold more than 2,630,000 copies in the UK alone (making it the all-time 34th. best seller in the UK), and according to some reports 15 to 17 million copies worldwide. The album went Gold in the USA and Mike Oldfield received a ‘Grammy Award’ for the "Best Instrumental Composition" in 1975.

18. Mike Oldfield - Five Miles Out — RM55 Genre: Progressive rock
“Five Miles Out” is the 7th. record album by Mike Oldfield, released in 1982, at a time when his music was moving away from large-scale symphonic pieces towards a more accessible Pop style. It is one of the very few albums on which Oldfield sings lead vocals, as he is noted for not having any confidence in his voice's qualities. The album uses the ‘Fairlight CMI’ as a main instrument and produced two singles.
“Five Miles Out”, the album, was more popular than Oldfield's last few releases. It charted at "No.7" in the UK. Oldfield's commercial revival would continue with subsequent albums “Crises” (1983) and “Discovery” (1984).
Track listing:
Side one 1."Taurus II"
Side two 1."Family Man" 2."Orabidoo" 3."Mount Teidi" 4."Five Miles Out"
The first track, "Taurus II", is a long-form piece with changing melodies and instrumental settings. It features many familiar sounds from his earlier albums, such as uilleann pipes and female chorus.
"Family Man" was Oldfield's first "real" rock song; ‘Maggie Reilly’ provides vocals. It was released as a single. ‘Hall & Oates’ covered the song in 1982 for their album “H2O”, with their version reaching No.6 on the US pop charts and No.15 in the UK. It thus became one of the very few songs penned by Mike Oldfield to chart in the United States.
CHARTS:
The album peaked at No.7 in the UK Album Chart and at No.16 on Norway's album chart, staying there for 7 weeks.
Chart - Position UK Album Chart - No.7 Norway - No.16
I'd recommend "Five miles out" for everyone who's about to purchase one of his 80's albums. Also, consider the option to purchase “Crises” album. It was his most selling album after the debut “Tubular Bells”.
. . . . 19. Mike Oldfield - Crises — RM55 Genre: Progressive rock
English composer ‘Mike Oldfield’ rose to fame on the success of his “Tubular Bells” album in 1973. An atmospheric, intricate composition that fused rock and folk motifs with the structures of minimalist composition, the 49-minute instumental piece (performed on close to 30 different instruments, virtually all of them played by Oldfield himself) spent months in the No.1 spot on the U.K. charts, and eventually sold over 16-million copies globally.
In addition to almost single-handedly establishing Virgi n Record as one of the most important labels in the record industry.
“Tubular Bells” also created a market for what would later be dubbed new age music, and won a ‘Grammy’ for "Best Instrumental Composition" in 1974.
Mike Oldfield, multi-instrumentalist has laid down a landmark in music with his 1973 album, “Tubular Bells”.
Oldfield's commercial revival continued with his 8th. record album, “Crises”, released in 1983. Oldfield's well known hit "Moonlight Shadow" appears on the album.
As with its direct predecessor “Five Miles out”, “Crises” represents the typical format of Mike's albums in the 80's: One-side long track, and an assortment of shorter musical pieces, on the other side.
Track listing: (U.K. version LP)
Side one 1."Crises"
Side two 1."Moonlight Shadow" 2."In High Places" 3."Foreign Affair" 4."Taurus 3" 5."Shadow on the Wall"
CHARTS:
The album peaked at No.6 in the UK Album Chart. It spent 19 weeks on Norway's album chart, peaking at No.1 for two weeks, and is Oldfield's best selling album there.
Chart (1983) - Position UK Album Chart - No.6 Norwegian Album Chart - No.1
The album also features the massive hit "Moonlight Shadow", sung by Maggie Reilly. Oldfield's finest short song - the great lyrics really give Maggie Reilly a proper showcase for her fine voice.
It's one of those songs that everyone has heard which stays with you for a long time.

“Riot Live” is the first official extended play live recording by New York City heavy metal band Riot. Released in 1982, it followed on the heels of “Restless Breed”, the group's first studio album with vocalist Rhett Forrester.
The LIVE recording was superbly done with FAR more energy and intensity than the studio version. The live version of "Loved By You" is especially cool.
The only live album that comes close to Judas Priest "Unleashed in the East" is “Riot Live”. If you love metal or rock or southern rock or jazz or just a fan of true pure live recordings, it doesn't get any better than this. The harmonica and guitar have never sounded as good together as they do on "Loved by you".
This LP is an outstanding version of how Riot performs live. The songs are energetic, fast, and very crisp.
This LP is full of great songs, and if you are a fan of early Riot, it is essential.
Track listing:

"Round and Round," is one of the greatest song in '80s rock.

The album features their best-known hit, "Round and Round", and other hits such as "Wanted Man", "Lack of Communication", and a re-recorded version of "Back for More", a song which originally appeared on the Ratt EP. In 2008, "Round and Round" & "I'm Insane" were featured in The Wrestler film.

. . . . . 23. Bullet - No Mercy — RM65
Album: No Mercy Genre: Heavy metal, Melodic Metal
Bullet, did at least two great vinyl LP during the 1980's, a classic heavy metal band. I have them on vinyl LP, and I think they are great. Their songs does rock!
Track Listing:
1. Look Out 2. Drunken Nights 3. I Sold My Soul to Rock 'n' Roll 4. No Mercy 5. One Way Ticket 6. Down by the Neonlights 7. Take You Out Tonight 8. All I Need is You 9. Midnight Stalker 10. Baby We Can Talk
Bullet are classic German heavy metal in the tradition of early Scorpions and Accept.
"Look Out" starts the album off with a sound not unlike something you might have expected to hear on one of the early 80's Scorpions albums.
"Drunken Nights" is a slow, heavy romp that similarly has that classic 80's German sound.
The band have a bit of a 1970's influence as well. The rock and roll anthem, "I Sold My Soul to Rock 'n' Roll" is a clear indication of their 70's roots.
The title track, "One Way Ticket" and "Down by the Neonlights" all rock hard and heavy, and again returns the band to that classic German sound similar to Accept or even early Grave Digger.
"Take You Out Tonight" has hints of the 70's metal influences again. "All I Need is You" could almost be mistaken for an early Accept song. It's heavy and has a killer groove.
Vocalist Klaus Thiel has a high, shrill, and crackly voice that works well with this working man's heavy metal. Comparison's to early Udo Dirkschneider wouldn't be far off, though he has a considerable amount of Bon Scott influence as well.
Considering that the album was produced by famous German producer/engineer Dieter Dierks, the comparisons to Scorpions and Accept become even more obvious.
It's also notable that bassist Fitty Wienhold has gone on to become a big part of U.D.O. and guitarist Jürgen Graf also was a part of U.D.O. for a while in the late 1990's.
Fans of classic heavy metal should do themselves a favor and look into this band. .
. . . . . 24. Loverboy - Get Lucky — RM65 Genre: Rock, Hard Rock

It featured the hit singles, "Working for the Weekend", "When It's Over", "Lucky Ones", "Gangs In the Street", and "Take Me to the Top".
In the same year Loverboy received six Juno Awards (Canada's highest award for music) in one year, a record that still stands today. The band would later receive an additional three Juno Awards, bringing their total to nine, which is the most received by a single group or individual.
Track listing:
1."Working for the Weekend" 2."When It's Over" 3."Jump" 4."Gangs in the Street" 5."Emotional" 6."Lucky Ones" 7."It's Your Life" 8."Watch Out" 9."Take Me to the Top"
Loverboy is a Canadian rock group formed in 1980 in Calgary, Alberta. Throughout the 1980s, the band accumulated numerous hit songs in Canada and the United States, earning four multi-Platinum albums and selling millions of records.
The band began recording their first album March 20, 1980 with Mike Reno on lead vocals, Paul Dean as the guitarist, Scott Smith as the bassist, Doug Johnson on keyboards and Matt Frenette on drums.
The band's hit singles, particularly "Turn Me Loose" and "Working for the Weekend", have become arena rock staples and are still heard on many classic rock radio stations across the United States and Canada.

Prism - Small Change Genre: Rock, Hard rock, AOR (Album-Oriented Rock), Pop rock
Prism (or PRiSM) is a Canadian rock band originally from Vancouver, Canada. They were active from 1977 to 1984 and are active again from 1988 to present. The band's sound is a mix of Album-Oriented Rock (AOR) and pop rock.
They have released a total of 13 albums to date. Their success has been primarily in Canada where they won the Canadian music industry Juno Award for "Group of the Year" in 1981.
Prism is noteworthy for launching the careers of international record producer Bruce Fairbairn and songwriter Jim Vallance.
On Sunday, March 6, 2011, Prism's Spaceship Superstar was chosen as the wakeup song for the Space Shuttle Discovery crew members.
Although Prism has had only moderate success as a band, their legacy is renowned for some of its former members who went on to have success in the music industry. Prism helped launch the careers of Bruce Fairbairn as an international record producer and Jim Vallance as a music industry wide songwriter. Fairbairn would go on to produce successful albums for international artists such as Loverboy, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Kiss and Yes.
Vallance would team up with Bryan Adams to become Adams-Vallance, one of the most successful song-writing teams in music history. Vallance then continued that success as a music industry "song doctor" for many well known international recording artists.
REVIEW (Prism - “Small Change” album):
"I have both of these records on vinyl, but this is the first time that they are available on CD. Both of these are almost impossible to find, so I would grab them while you can, I did. The music is early 80s hard/pop rock. I remember when this came out in 1981-82. It was very good then, and it's still very good now. It's better than anything new that you will hear on the radio today. Enjoy!" - By G. Burns (St. Louis, MO USA) . . . . . . 26. Track Listing:
1. Obsession 2. Let Him Go 3. Everything's Leading to You 4. Turn Around 5. Fun Fun Fun 6. Tremble 7. Holding You 8. Run to Me 9. Open Door
With the hits "Obsession" and "Let Him Go", you can't go wrong buying this vinyl LP.
‘Animotion’ is a 1980s U.S. New Wave/synthpop band best known for their songs "Obsession", "Let Him Go", "I Engineer" and "Room to Move".
This self-titled “Animotion” is the first album released by the great synthpop band-‘Animotion’, contains the Top 10 hit (1985) "Obsession" as well as the Top 40 hit "Let Him Go", but the rest of the album is more exciting.
They have a strong number of rock heavy songs like the best number "Everything's Leading To You", which is like the faster track "Let Her Go". Some other strong numbers are "Fun Fun Fun" and "Tremble".
The cold and chilly ballad "Tremble" is definitely a keeper.
"Fun, Fun, Fun" delivers well... a fun feeling, as well as "Open Door". So there is more of a rock driven vibe here than the keyboard/techno-heavy "Obsession".
‘Animotion’ uses great instrumentals, boasting great guitar suqences, drums as well as well as the keyboards.
The lead male and female singers in the band bring a sexy vibe to the album as they trade leads in all the songs. Astrid Plane & Bill Wadhams deliver great vocals in all the songs.
"Let Her Go" is more guitar heavy. This album really led them to the success that they had in the '80s. Their song "Obsession" is still talked about and played to this day.
They released their self-titled debut album in 1984. The following year, a single from this album, "Obsession" had a worldwide success and became the band's first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 single. The follow-up single from this album, "Let Him Go" also cracked the U.S. Top 40.

‘Roxy Music’ attained popular and critical success in the UK, Europe and Australia during the 1970s and early 1980s, beginning with their debut album, “Roxy Music” (1972). The band was highly influential, as leading proponents of the more experimental, musically sophisticated element of glam, as well as a significant influence on early English punk music.
Their music was influenced by the British acts of the time like the Beatles, which were Ferry's favourite band, King Crimson, David Bowie, Elton John, Pink Floyd, the Kinks, the Move, The Rolling Stones, Traffic, The Who, The Creation and The Pretty Things.

Genre: Arena Rock, Synth pop . ‘Steel Breeze’ is an American album-oriented rock group that had a popular video on MTV with "You Don't Want Me Anymore" in 1982 with its hooky synth line and Springfield-esque guitar sound.
It was a Top 20 hit, the band played on THE showcase of the time, "Solid Gold," the song ended up on a K-Tel compilation.
‘Steel Breeze’ sounds unabashedly like the 1980s nostalgia. There is some fantastic guitar playing on this album. Great keyboard hooks, angular guitars, melodies (remember those?).
In other words, an album made with the idea that people would be listening to it, so maybe it oughtta be enjoyable. I felt 20 years younger playing this album, it is what pop music sounded like in 1982 and the new wave influence couldn't help but creep in.
Taking their name from a phrase in Pink Floyd's song, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", the six member band from Sacramento, California composed of Ric Jacobs (vocals), Ken Goorabian and Waylin Carpenter (guitars), Rod Toner (keyboards), Vinnie Pantaleoni (bass guitar), and Barry Lowenthal (drums) released their self-titled debut album in 1982 on RCA Records.
"You Don't Want Me Anymore," the first single from the album, quickly jumped into the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 supported by a video that was a favorite of early MTV, and peaked at No.16. The next single, "Dreamin' Is Easy," also made it into the Top 40, but could not go higher than No.30.

Genre: Heavy metal, Speed metal, Hard rock Released: 1978 Label: Gull Records
Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band from Birmingham, formed in 1969. The core line-up consists of lead vocalist Rob Halford, guitarist Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis.
They have been cited as an influence on many heavy metal musicians and bands. Their popularity and status as one of the definitive heavy metal bands has earned them the nickname "Metal Gods" from their song of the same name.
They have sold over "50 million albums" worldwide. They were named the 78th greatest artist of all time by VH1 in 2010 and 2nd Greatest Metal Band by MTV (after Black Sabbath).
They are known for a twin lead guitar style, Halford's wide operatic vocal style, and for introducing the S&M leather and studs look into heavy metal. As of 2011, bassist Ian Hill has remained the only founding member of the band, due to guitarist K.K. Downing's retirement from the group.
“The Best of Judas Priest” is a collection of a few select songs from Judas Priest's first two albums, and was released under Gull Records, the band's former record label. ‘Kansas’ is an American rock band that became popular in the 1970s on Album-Oriented Rock (AOR) charts, and with immensely popular hit singles "Dust in the Wind".

The Last Great ‘Kansas’ Album :-
"Fight Fire With Fire" is the only song off this album that I find on ‘Kansas’ Greatest Hits compilations. I like it very much, especially the keyboard opening and Elefante's vocals.
The best track is definitely "Going Through the Motions." It is amazing! The haunting, yet powerful keyboards opening, vocals and drums all kick butt, especially at the chorus! When I first heard it, I was blown away!
Another track that really rocks is "Mainstream". A nice ballad "Andi" has a sweet charm about it (about a young girl who wants to be a lady but hasn't quite blossomed yet, my guess).
"Get Rich" is very catchy, especially the piano and vocals during the verses. "Everybody' My Friend" is OK. "Going Through the Motions" alone is worth the price of this album!
The lyrics of several songs are among the best of the band; that's what makes this album special. . . . . . . . . 32. Electric Light Orchestra - Electric Light Orchestra II — RM45 Cyrus

If ‘The Flying Burrito Brothers’ weren't the first country rock band, they were certainly one of the most influential, and was the first to combine country and late-1960s rock music. However they lost the race to the top of the charts to ‘The Eagles’, who came later.

‘Blue Feather’ was a Dutch male vocal/instrumental group who accomplished international recognition with their hit single "Let's Funk Tonight" in the UK Singles Chart, a strong track also featured on their first album entitled “Feather Funk”.
It was released on the Mercury label, entered the chart on 3 July 1982, and rose to a high of No.50, it remained in the charts for four weeks.
The story of ‘Blue Feather’ starts in 1976 when two brothers, Ed and Ron Brouwer, started a band with some musical friends. From that time they started with their own written songs and developed a new sound. The result was a mix of Latin, Funk and Pop with arrangements for several voices.
This “Feather Funk” album from ‘Blue Feather’ contain their top track "Let's Funk Tonight", a remix in Canada by a Canadian remixer/producer Peter Frost.
The remix version hits the Top 10 in the Canadian Disco charts. (In the meanwhile the Canadian mix reached the Disco charts).
In the UK also arise a big interest for the 12" Canadian remix version of "Let's funk tonight" release because it was very successful in the Disco and clubs. This was the reason to release "Let's Funk Tonight" in whole Europe.

This is a 1983 Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Speed Metal vinyl LP.
‘Accept’ is a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, originally assembled by former vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes.
Though ‘Accept’ did not actually exist until 1976, their beginnings can be traced back to the late 1960s when Dirkschneider formed the local band ‘Band X’.
They played an important role in the development of speed metal, being part of the German heavy metal scene to emerge in the early to mid 1980s.
The band's 1983 album, “Balls to the Wall”, subsequently became their most successful release, featuring its well-known hit with the same title. Following their disbandment in 1997 and brief resurrection in 2005, they reunited in 2009 with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider, and consequently releasing their highest charting album to date, “Blood of the Nations”.
According to bassist Peter Baltes, ‘Accept’ plan to record another album, which will likely be released in 2012.
They have sold over 27 million albums worldwide.

Genre: Arena Rock, Hard Rock Released: 1986 Label: MCA Records Producer: Pat Glasser, David Glen Eisley, Gregg Giuffria
The band covered "I Must Be Dreaming," a Willy DeVille song that went No.52 on the Billboard Hot 100. The record's peak position on The Billboard 200 was No.60 on June 21, 1986.
Track listing:
1. No Escape 2. Love You Forever 3. I Must Be Dreaming (Mink DeVille cover) 4. Girl 5. Change Of Heart 6. Radio 7. Heartache 8. Lethal Lover 9. Tell It Like It Is 10. Dirty Secrets
Band member:
David Glen Eisley: Lead Vocals, Harmonica Lanny Cordola: Guitar Gregg Giuffria: Keyboards, vocals David Sikes: Bass Alan Krigger: Drums
Originally released in 1986, hard rock with a very full sound, this album contains some great material. David Glen Eisley's vocals are very similar to Journey's Steve Perry. Same power, same vocal range, but put to music that's somewhat heavier.
Even though their first album contained the fantastic "Call To The Heart", I found “Silk & Steel” better overall.
This is one of my favorite albums from 1986; if you like Night Ranger's early albums as well as powerful melodies with rich keyboard and guitar textures, and fantastic vocals, grab this!
One of the best from the '80s. Guitars that go from blazing to romantic ... to blazing again ... scorching keyboards from Gregg Giuffria, one of the most talented ever in the business, great drumming ... impassioned, excellent vocals from David Glen Eisley .. Emotion from the vocal, the lyrics, the melodies. "Change Of Heart" .. enough said. . . .

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Pictures At An Exhibition — RM55 . Cyrus
Genre: Progressive rock, symphonic rock, art rock
‘Emerson, Lake & Palmer’, also known as ELP, are an English progressive rock supergroup. They found success in the 1970s and sold over 40 million albums and headlined large stadium concerts.
The band consists of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. They are one of the most commercially successful progressive rock bands and from the outset focused on combining classical pieces with rock music.
The band's March 1971 live recording, “Pictures at an Exhibition”, an interpretation of Modest Mussorgsky's work of the same name, was issued as a low-priced record, the success of which contributed to the band's overall popularity.
It was unprecedented for a rock band to devote an entire album to a treatment of a classical work, and to this day, “Pictures at an Exhibition” remains the only complete classical suite that has hit the Top 10 in either the US or the UK. The album mixed in a ballad by Greg Lake ("The Sage"), a Blues Variation section by Emerson and many instances of heavily electronic and synthesised interpretations of Mussorgsky's work (although the opening "Promenade" was played faithfully on a pipe organ).
Track listing:
1. "Promenade" 2. "The Gnome" 3. "Promenade" 4. "The Sage" 5. "The Old Castle" 6. "Blues Variation" 7. "Promenade" 8. "The Hut of Baba Yaga" 9. "The Curse of Baba Yaga" 10. "The Hut of Baba Yaga" 11. "The Great Gates of Kiev/The End" 12. "Nut Rocker"
Charts:
The album reached No.3 in the UK album chart in December 1971, only by virtue of the fact that budget-priced albums (of which “Pictures at an Exhibition” was one), were eligible for inclusion at that time. At the beginning of 1972 another change in the chart rules excluded them again, which meant that Pictures disappeared from the chart from No.9 after a run of just 5 weeks.
In the US Billboard album chart it peaked at No.10 in early 1972.

Genre: Hard rock, Southern rock, country rock
.38 Special is an American rock band that was formed by neighborhood friends Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant in 1975 in Jacksonville, Florida.
The band's first two albums had a strong southern rock influence. By the early 1980s, .38 Special shifted to a more accessible arena rock style without abandoning its southern rock roots. This shift helped to usher in a string of successful albums and singles.
Their breakthrough hit was "Hold On Loosely" (1981). "Caught Up in You" (1982) and "If I'd Been the One" (1983) both hit No.1 on Billboard magazine's Album Rock Tracks chart. "Back Where You Belong" (1984) continued the annual sequence of radio favorites, and "Second Chance" (1989) was a No.1 hit on Billboard's adult contemporary chart.

In 2007, .38 Special was the opening act on Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr.'s Rowdy Frynds Tour, and on September 27, 2008, they filmed a CMT Crossroads special with country singer Trace Adkins, performing both artists' hits from over the years.
In 2009, .38 Special opened for REO Speedwagon and Styx as part of the "Can't Stop Rockin' Tour."

The band has sold more than 25 million records worldwide, releasing eight Gold albums and twelve Billboard Hot 100 singles of which six were Top 40 hits, including three Top 10 successes: "Born to Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", and "Rock Me".

“Something Heavy Going Down” LIVE album by Dutch hard rock band ‘Golden Earring’.

Greeeaaaatttt live album!! This album never gets old. If you enjoy guitar rock this is the record for you. It's live, fast, and hard.
The whole band are great musicians and work so perfectly together, especially live! George Kooymans is a fantastic live guitarist, he jams and rides the music like a surfer on a wave giving the live versions of their songs a greater appeal.
The live renditions of their two "big hits" are far superior to the overplayed studio versions.
The version of "Radar Love" on this album kicks serious amounts of as.s. Seriously, it rocks so HEAVY and blows the studio version out of the water. Plus, the opening track "Long Blonde Animal," is just plain fun, and "Mission Impossible" has a couple of terrific guitar solos.
They are awesome in concert.
‘Golden Earring’ have, since the mid-70s, been a Euro-rock version of the ‘Outlaws’, with elements of that band's guitar-jamming style blended with ‘Pink Floyd’-esque spaciness.
A terrific live album. If I had to recommend just one ‘Golden Earring’ album this would be the one, worth the money for the good music that is on it.
Track listing:
1. "Long Blond Animal" 2. "Twilight Zone" 3. "When the Lady Smiles" 4. "Future" 5. "Something Heavy Going Down" 6. "Enough Is Enough" 7. "Mission Impossible" 8. "Radar Love" 9. "Clear Night Moonlight"

42. America - Holiday — RM45 . Genre: Pop rock
“Holiday” is the fourth original studio album by an English-American folk rock band ‘America’, released by Warner Bros. Records in June 1974. The album was produced in London by noted ‘Beatles’ producer George Martin.
The trio were able to secure the services of George Martin, and Geoff Emerick [Beatles Recording Engineer 1966-1970] who played a major role in shaping the sound of the Beatles.
With Martin's guidance, the album's style was very different from America's first three efforts, as he enhanced America's acoustic sound with strings and brass.
The album was a big hit in the US, reaching No.3 on the U.S. Billboard Album chart and being certified “Gold” by the RIAA.
It produced two hit singles: "Tin Man" reached No.4 on the Billboard singles chart and went to No.1 on both the Adult Contemporary chart as well as the Radio & Records chart; and "Lonely People" which peaked at No.5 on the Billboard singles chart and also hit No.1 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
Several other songs received radio airplay on FM stations playing album tracks, including "Baby It's Up To You" and "Another Try".
Track listing:
1. "Miniature" 2. "Tin Man" 3. "Another Try" 4. "Lonely People" 5. "Glad To See You" 6. "Mad Dog" 7. "Hollywood" 8. "Baby It's Up To You" 9. "You" 10. "Old Man Took" 11. "What Does It Matter" 12. "In The Country"
Bright, melodic tunes; cryptic and interesting lyrics; and a sense of harmony. This album is one of their finest. "Tin Man" "Old Man Took," "Hollywood," "Lonely People" are prime examples of good solid song writing skill.
Soft rock at its best! Their first collaboration with legendary Beatles producer George Martin. The album is very nicely done and was a big hit. Features the hits "Tin Man" and "Lonely People". Best album tracks are "Another Try", "Baby It's Up To You", "Hollywood", and "In The Country". Highly recommended! . . .

Asia is a supergroup formed in 1981 with members of Yes, King Crimson, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Uriah Heep. The current members are Geoff Downes, John Wetton, Steve Howe and Carl Palmer, but the membership has seen many changes over the years, with celebrated musicians popping in and out of the band. Although they have not achieved the critical acclaim one would expect of their respectable rock credentials, but for a few brief, shining moments, Asia "ruled the music world".
They have a loyal band of fans who love their blend of easy-listening AOR with progressive flourishes. . . . . . . . . . 44. Strawbs - Hero and Heroine — RM55 . Cyrus

48. Ekseption - Bingo — RM45 . .
Studio Album, released in 1974. Recorded at Phonogram Studios Hilversum, Holland. Label: Philips 6413501 Country: Scandinavia Genre: Pop/Rock, Classic Rock Style: Art Rock, Eclectic Prog/Progressive Rock
‘Ekseption’ (English: ‘Exception’) are a Dutch progressive rock band that went on to produce specialized classical rock.
“Bingo” is a rare and deleted music studio album from 1974 and offers cool and gentle symphonic classics. It is the first ‘Ekseption’ album after keyboardist and band founder, Rick van der Linden's departure for a solo career following the making of Trinity and he was replaced by Hans Jansen, and the group also decided to include guitarist Hans Hollestelle in the band though the remaining players (trumpeter Rein van den Broek, reed player Jan Vennik, bassist Cor Dekker, and drummer Pieter Voogt) stuck with the band.
This new version of ‘Ekseption’ headed for a far more conventional jazz-rock style. The album opening track, "From Ekseption" is a long, meandering opener that alternates between funk and jazz fusion, with fine playing by van den Broek.
Actually, the beautiful and atmospheric "Nightwalk" was the only track on “Bingo” that really sounded like the classic ‘Ekseption’.
So if you like to chill for a while and enjoy an eclectic mix of "rock/classical" this album is ideal.

All ten tracks are very well produced. The music is still fresh 25 years later. It contains the hits "All You Zombies", "Day By Day", "And We Danced" and "Where Do The Children Go". Unique sound, and a rare album! Every song is flawless! . . . .
50. Shooting Star - III Wishes — RM45 . Genre: Hard rock
‘Shooting Star’ is the greatest American rock band to come out of Kansas City.
Formed in the late 1970s ‘Shooting Star’ became the first American group to sign with Virgi n Records. They recorded their 1979 debut album in England with legendary producer Gus Dudgeon, best known for his work with ‘Elton John’ and ‘David Bowie’.
The band gained national exposure when a number of songs garnered air-play on album-oriented rock (AOR) radio stations in the US.
“III Wishes” is the third great album in a row for ‘Shooting Star’. Most of the songs are great, and even those that aren't are fairly good. This album helped to bridge the gap between the art rock and guitar boogie of the 70s and the techno-pop/dance music of the 80s. At the helm was ‘Journey’ producer Kevin Elson.
“III Wishes”, 1982 (Billboard Top Album No.82, on chart for 9 weeks)
Tracklist:
1. Are You Ready 2. Standing in the Light 3. Heartache 4. Where You Gonna Run 5. Do You Feel Alright 6. Turn It On 7. Weary Eyes 8. Couldn't Get Enough 9. Let It Out 10. Whole World's Watching
“III Wishes” is still a great piece of AOR that bridges the gap between ‘Journey’ and ‘Foghat’.
True blue ‘Shooting Star’ fans will find this a satisfying album. Hard rockers like "Are You Ready" and "Do You Feel Alright" are much in the vein of the Over The Top stylings found on "Shooting Star" and "Hang On For Your Life". But this album leans heavily in the direction of melodic, softer songs. Such as the rousing power ballad "Whole World's Watching".
"Are You Ready", "Heartache" and "Do You Feel Alright" were all songs that made my personal "best of" set.
If you are a fan of groups like ‘Kansas’, ‘Magnum’, ‘Bad Company’, ‘Foreigner’ and ‘Journey’, you should give these AOR wonderboys a spin. They combine the best elements of all those bands.
. . . . . . 51. Bob Segar & the Silver Bullet Band - The Distance — RM55 . Cyrus
Genres: Rock
‘Robert Seger’ is an American rock singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist. In 1973 he put together ‘The Silver Bullet Band’, an evolving group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful.
A roots rocker with a classic raspy, shouting voice, ‘Seger’ was first inspired by ‘Little Richard’ and ‘Elvis Presley’, along with ‘James Brown’. He wrote and recorded songs that dealt with blue-collar themes.
‘Seger’ has recorded many rock and roll hits, including "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", and "Like a Rock", and also co-wrote the ‘Eagles’ number No.1 hit "Heartache Tonight". His iconic signature song "Old Time Rock and Roll" was named one of the “Songs of the Century” in 2001.
"Old Time Rock & Roll" charted No.2 as most played Jukebox Singles of all Time, second only to ‘Patsy Cline’'s "Crazy".
‘Seger’'s songs have been covered by many artists including ‘Thin Lizzy’ and ‘Metallica’.
‘Seger’ was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” in 2004. With a career spanning five decades, ‘Seger’ continues to perform and record today.
‘Seger’ released the acclaimed “The Distance” in 1982. It peaked at No.5 on US Billboard's album chart and sold close to 2-million copies in the U.S.
“The Distance” spawned numerous hits beginning with Rodney Crowell's "Shame on the Moon". It was the biggest hit of ‘Seger’'s entire career, hitting No.1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and holding at No.2 for four consecutive weeks - behind ‘Michael Jackson’'s Platinum - selling "Billie Jean" - on the Hot 100.
It also crossed over to No.15 on Billboard's Country Singles chart. The follow-up single, "Even Now", just missed the Top 10 and "Roll Me Away" peaked at No.27. The driving album track "Making Thunderbirds" was a popular music video filmed in Detroit and well-received on MTV.
‘Seger’'s “The Distance” album sold for 1.9 million copies in the United States.

Y & T – In Rock We Trust Label: A&M Records, A&M Records Of Canada Limited Format: Vinyl, LP, Album
Country: Canada Released: 1984 Genre: Rock, Heavy metal Style: Hard Rock
Y & T were One of the 80's Defining Hard Rock Acts. Originally Released in 1984, this Album Found Great Favor with European Metal Fans.
“In Rock We Trust” is a great hard rock album from beginning to end. "Rock & Roll's Gonna Save the World" and especially "Break Out Tonight!" are both top notch. While "Lip stick and Leather" and "Don't Stop Runnin'" are very good songs.
Other great tracks include the riff heavy "Masters and Slaves", the mid-tempo "Life, Life, Life", and the frantic "She's A Liar." Finally, the closing "This Time" is one of their best power ballads, something the band always had a knack for.
All told, “In Rock We Trust” is a great melodic metal album from a band that never got their just due. Highly recommended.
REVIEW:
THE ONE!
“This is the album that made me a lifetime Y&T fan... tracks "Don't Stop Running", "Lip stick and Leather", and one of the greatest power ballads people have never heard "This Time" If you like Y&T and have never heard this one its a must buy.” - by J. Prince (Kentucky, USA)
.....
THE LAST OF Y&T's GREATS!
“"In Rock We Trust" is an album I can recommend without hesitation. It is one of my favorite albums. "Rock And Roll's Gonna Save The World" is yet another great leadoff track, and the hit "Don't Stop Runnin'" is one of my favorites.
To paraphrase George Carlin, you don't have to be Fellini to figure out the nature of "Lip stick And Leather," and I'll put "This Time" up against any other power ballad. Very much worth purchasing.” - By Clecinosu (USA) . . . . . .
53. The Alan Parsons Project - The Turn Of A Friendly Card — RM65 . Genre: Progressive rock, Pop rock
British progressive-rock band ‘Alan Parsons Project’ formed in London in the mid 70's by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson.
As the ‘Alan Parsons Project’ they released their first album in 1976, “Tales of Mystery and Imagination” and it was generally well received.
‘Alan Parsons Project’ are best known for their 6th. album “Eye in the Sky” (1982), which produced their most well known hit "Eye in the Sky" as well as the instrumental "Sirius".
“The Turn Of A Friendly Card” is a progressive rock album by ‘Alan Parsons Project’, released in 1980.
“The Turn Of A Friendly Card” is also notable for spawning the moderate hits "Games People Play" and "Time".
With two of the Alan Parsons Project's best songs, the lovely ballad "Time" and the wavy-sounding "Games People Play," “The Turn Of A Friendly Card” remains one of this group's most enjoyable albums.
On "Games People Play," vocalist Lenny Zakatek sounds compelling and focused. With "Time," it is Eric Woolfson who carries this luxurious-sounding ode to life's passing to a place above and beyond any of this band's other slower material.
The last track, "The Turn of a Friendly Card," which is broken into five separate parts. "Snake Eyes," sung by Chris Rainbow, is the most compelling of the five pieces.
As in every Parsons album, an instrumental is included, in this case an interesting number aptly titled "The Gold Bug." Its flow and rhythm simulate the overall tempo and concept of the album, acting as a welcome interlude.
“The Turn Of A Friendly Card” is to the point and doesn't let down. Not to be missed!

Genre: Art Rock, Progressive rock, Pop rock
“Eye in the Sky” is a 1982 album by ‘The Alan Parsons Project’.
Songs on this album are in a number of different styles, from cool and funky to lyrical and heavily orchestrated. It is variously reported as their best-selling album, so creamily melodic and was the last Platinum record from the band (joining “I Robot” and “The Turn of a Friendly Card”).
“Eye in the Sky” contained the Project's greatest hit, the title track with lead vocals by Eric Woolfson. The album itself was a major success, reaching the Top 10 in numerous countries
Track listing:

This album contains the well-known instrumental piece "Sirius", which has become a staple of many big-time college and professional sporting arenas throughout North America. It is perhaps best known for its use by the Chicago Bulls to introduce its starting lineup (including Michael Jordan) during its championship years of the 1990s and continued to the present.

. . . . . 55. The Alan Parsons Project - Ammonia Avenue — RM65 . Genre: Progressive rock, Pop rock
‘The Alan Parsons Project’'s 1984 release, “Ammonia Avenue” is definitely one of their best albums & commercially successful albums.
Following the highly-successful “Eye In The Sky”, “Ammonia Avenue” is yet another winning blend of this excellent studio group's progressive pop/rock, anchored by writer/producer Alan Parsons and his partner, singer/composer Eric Woolfson.
The Phil Spector-influenced million selling smash "Don't Answer Me" was “Ammonia Avenue”'s lead single; it reached the Top 20 in several countries, and represents the last ‘Alan Parsons Project’'s big hit.
Great songs are everywhere - the radio hits "Prime Time" & "Don't Answer Me," the catchy "One Good Reason," the excellent melodic rock of "Dancing On A Highwire", the dreamy instrumental "Pipeline", and the lovely title track that closes the album.
The tunes are memorable, the vocals by such singers as Eric Woolfson himself, Lenny Zakatek, Chris Rainbow & Colin Blunstone are first-rate, the musicianship from such Project regulars as guitarist Ian Bairnson, drummer Stuart Elliot, et al, is tight, and Parsons' 80's polish to the production is sparkly.
“Ammonia Avenue” is an excellent album from Alan Parsons & company. You can't go wrong purchasing this one. :-)

. . . . . . 56. Yes - Fragile — RM65 .
Cyrus
Genre: Progressive rock
“Fragile” is the fourth studio album from the English progressive rock band Yes, released on Atlantic Records.
Upon its release in the UK in November 1971, “Fragile” peaked at No.7 on the UK Album Chart and No.4 on the US Billboard 200 during a stay of "46 weeks".
Its best known track, "Roundabout", was released in the United States in an edited 3:27 version as a single and peaked at No.13 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart in April 1972.
Recorded in September 1971 at Advision Studios in London, the album is an analog multi-track production.
With the 1972 release of “Fragile”, Yes established themselves as one of the most progressive rock bands on the scene. With the recent addition of towering, silver-caped Rick Wakeman on keyboards, they raised their innovative brand of music to even dizzier heights.
"Roundabout," which is still a standard on classic rock playlists, is an unusual track, coming in under four minutes, while "Heart of the Sunrise" - with its varied constituents molded together perfectly - goes on for as long as it needs.
“Fragile” should always be considered a 'classic' in the progressive rock genre, not just because the musicianship is virtuosic, tasteful and unique, but because the majority of it is catchy and accessible as well - something that's very rare in progressive rock as a whole.
It still is one of the essential albums in any rock collection.
Every member of Yes is incredibly talented:
Jon Anderson's raspy voice sounds like two people singing at the same time; Chris Squire plays bass as if it was a lead instrument; Steve Howe's guitar at times rings with classical underpinnings and at other times rips out overwhelming lightning fast rock riffs; Wakeman's only peer on keyboards is Keith Emerson; and I suspect Bill Bruford is one of the few drummers who could possibly anchor this much talent. ...
. . . 57. Yes - Going For The One — RM65 . Genre: Progressive rock
“Going for the One” is the eighth studio album by British progressive rock band Yes. It was released in 1977 after an extended break for solo activity, and is especially notable for marking the return of keyboardist Rick Wakeman, who had departed in 1974 in the aftermath of the Tales from Topographic Oceans tour. His re-entry was facilitated by the departure of Patrick Moraz, after having only played on Relayer, although Moraz is thanked in the credits.
Allmusic's Ross Boissoneau has described this album as "perhaps the most overlooked item in the Yes catalog".
Jon Anderson has said of the song "Awaken". “We had a hit record! I loved listening to 'Awaken', at last we had created a Masterwork” and has indicated in some interviews that he considers it to be Yes's most complete composition.
Yes's return at the height of the punk movement was an unexpectedly successful one, with “Going for the One” reaching the pinnacle of the UK charts and even having a Top 10 hit single with "Wondrous Stories" - something that would have been considered impossible during the days of Tales from Topographic Oceans.
“Going for the One” (Atlantic K 50379) reached No.1 in the UK, remaining for 21 weeks in the Top 40, and No.8 on the US Billboard Top 200 (Atlantic SD 19106) during a chart stay of "21 weeks".

. . . . . . . 58. Yes - 90125 — RM65 . Genre: Progressive rock, pop rock
After breaking up at the dawn of the '80s, Yes made a surprise comeback with this 1983 effort.
“90125” is the eleventh album by progressive rock group Yes, released in 1983. It was the first album since the breakup of Yes in 1980. It is also the first album to feature Trevor Rabin, and features the return of vocalist Jon Anderson, who had quit the band in 1980. It also marked the first time in twelve years that original keyboardist Tony Kaye had appeared with the group.
The album was simply titled after its Atco Records catalogue number (for example, 7-90125-1 for the LP). Contrary to rumour, it was not named after an American ZIP code, nor is "90125" even an actual ZIP code.
Released on Atlantic Records' subsidiary, Atco, “90125” launched Yes to the MTV age and to a whole new breed of fans. The music was catchy, contemporary and well liked by reviewers and their new fans (many of whom had little clue of the band's previous incarnation).
The new approach made these English prog-rock vets sound contemporary at the height of the MTV explosion, spawning memorably catchy hits like "Owner of a Lonely Heart," "Leave It," and "It Can Happen."
The lead single, "Owner of a Lonely Heart," became the band's first (and only) US No.1 hit, driving “90125” to the Top 5 and helping it sell three million units, by far Yes's most successful album.
"It Can Happen", "Changes", and "Leave It" all reached Top 10 on Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks during 1984 and received heavy airplay. The British sales were not as spectacular, but still solid, and successive hits, such as "Leave It" and "It Can Happen" ensured “90125” had a lengthy chart life.
In addition, "Cinema" won the 1985 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
The album “90125” (Atco 790 125) reached No.16 in the UK. It also reached No.5 in the US during a chart stay of "53 weeks".
. . . . . . 59. Reo Speedwagon - Wheels Are Turnin' — RM65
Cyrus
Genre: Hard Rock, Soft Rock, AOR
“Wheels Are Turnin'” is the eleventh studio album by an American rock band REO Speedwagon, released in 1984. It features "Can't Fight This Feeling," which was REO's second and longest-running No.1 single.
"Can't Fight This Feeling" (often mistitled "Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore") is a number-one power ballad from REO Speedwagon about a man falling in love with a girl with whom he has been friends for a long time.
It was the group's second number-one hit on the U.S. charts (the first being 1981's "Keep on Loving You", also written by Kevin Cronin) and reached No.16 in the UK.
"Can't Fight This Feeling" has appeared on dozens of 'various artists' compilation albums, as well as several REO Speedwagon greatest hits albums. It has also been featured on soundtracks of movies such as Not Another Teen Movie, Waiting..., and, most recently, Kickin' It Old Skool and Se x Drive.
Other singles released were "One Lonely Night" "I Do' Wanna Know", and "Live Every Moment".
MTV had become a big factor in the success of rock artists by the mid '80s, and REO made the transition fine. Some of their heavily-aired clips, including those for the quirky rocker "I Do'wanna Know" and the tender "Can't Fight This Feeling," proved to be some of REO's most popular, perennial hits. Over the course of its career, the band has sold more than 40 million records and has charted thirteen Top 40 hits.
Track listing:
1."I Do' Wanna Know" 2."One Lonely Night" 3."Thru the Window" 4."Rock 'n Roll Star" 5."Live Every Moment" 6."Can't Fight This Feeling" 7."Gotta Feel More" 8."Break His Spell" 9."Wheels Are Turnin'" . .

“Good Trouble” (1982) and “Wheels Are Turnin'” (1984) were follow-up albums which also did well commercially, the former containing the hit singles "Keep the Fire Burnin'" (U.S. No.7) and "Sweet Time" (U.S. No.26) and the latter containing the No.1 hit single "Can't Fight This Feeling" plus three more hits: "I Do' Wanna Know" (U.S. No.29), "One Lonely Night" (U.S. No.19) and "Live Every Moment" (U.S. No.34).
Over the course of its career, the band has sold more than 40 million records and has charted thirteen Top 40 hits.
“Good Trouble” is the tenth studio album by REO Speedwagon, released in 1982 as a follow up to “Hi Infidelity”. It was the second best selling album in the band's history, peaking at No.7 on the Billboard charts.
None of the songs from this album have been performed by the band in concert since 1983. The single "Keep the Fire Burnin'" gave the band a No.7 hit on Billboard's Pop Singles Chart and a No.2 hit on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, their highest-charting hit on this chart.

Genre: Rock
“Caught in the Game” is the fourth album by American rock band Survivor, released in 1983. It features guest appearances by Mr. Mister's Richard Page and REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin.
This is one of the many Survivor albums taken out of print in 2009, meaning it is no longer commercially available. However, it is available as a pricy, paper sleeved import.
Track listing:
1."Caught in the Game" – 4:46 (Peterik, Sullivan) 2."Jackie Don't Go" – 4:04 (Peterik, Sullivan) 3."I Never Stopped Loving You" – 4:07 (Peterik, Sullivan) 4."It Doesn't Have to Be This Way" – 3:59 (Peterik, Sullivan) 5."Ready For the Real Thing" – 3:55 (Peterik, Sullivan) 6."Half-Life" – 5:06 (Peterik, Sullivan) 7."What Do You Really Think?" – 3:48 (Peterik) 8."Slander" – 5:18 (Peterik, Sullivan) 9."Santa Ana Winds" – 6:35 (Peterik, Sullivan)
Survivor is an American AOR rock band formed in 1977, most famous for their track "Eye of the Tiger" which was the theme tune to the film "Rocky III".
The core of the band was formed around the founder members, Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan, though only Sullivan remains with the band today.
Their first release was “Survivor” which failed to ignite the interest of the music buying public. “Premonition”, their follow-up, was rather more popular, resulting in the hit "Poor Man's Son".
However, it was when Sylvester Stallone approached the band to ask them to write the theme tune to his next Rocky film, that they finally achieved commercial success. The band wrote "Eye of the Tiger" for Stallone, whereupon it lodged at the top of the charts in several countries.
Such was the success of the single that it earned a Grammy Award and was nominated for an Academy Award.
It was little surprise when the album, “Eye of the Tiger”, released in 1982, became an instant hit. . ..
63. Survivor - Vital Signs — RM65 .
Genre: AOR, Hard rock, Pop rock
It was the band second Hollywood collaboration (first was ROCKY III film) which propelled this album to chart success. "The Moment Of Truth" was the theme tune to The Karate Kid film and the album, “Vital Signs” profited from the success of the single.
On this album, the band changed vocalists from Dave Bickler (who had left because of vocal problems) to Jimi Jamison. In addition, the band decided to recall veteran producer Ron Nevison (Heart, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company) back into the fold to handle knob twiddling duties. The results were spectacular.
“Vital Signs” blew the roof of the charts, delivering three US Top 20 hit singles ("The Search Is Over", "High On You" & "I Cant Hold Back") whilst the album itself made No.16 on the US Billboard Album Chart.
“Vital Signs”, has the mixture of hard rockers and ballads, punctuated with a mixture of heavy guitar chords and keyboards, of which four hit the charts.
It was a spectacular recovery from what had looked like a desperate situation and is now recognised as arguably Survivors finest moment, packed with killer tracks and boasting a superior production.
Truly “Vital Signs” is one of the most "essential AOR albums" of all time.
My favourite Survivor song is none of the Rocky III songs, but the power ballad and soul-searching single "The Search Is Over." This was definitely made for Survivor, although it has shades of Loverboy's "This Could Be The Night." The chorus is immortal:
"I was living for a dream/Loving for a moment/Taking on the world/That was just my style/Now i look into your eyes/I can see forever/The search is over/You were with me all the while."
So chalk another up for producer Ron Nevison, one for Survivor, and a big one for 80's rock.
On the Billboard Album Chart the album “Vital Signs” peaked at No.49 but still managed to sell over 500,000 copies and reached certified "Gold" status. . . . . 64. Survivor - Premonition — RM65 .
Genre: Hard rock, Pop rock
Survivor is an American AOR rock band formed in 1977, most famous for their track "Eye of the Tiger" which was the theme tune to the film Rocky III.
Their first release “Survivor” failed to ignite the interest of the music buying public. “Premonition”, their follow-up, was more popular, resulting in the hit "Poor Man's Son".
“Premonition” is the second album by the American AOR/Melodic rockers, released in 1981. Recorded in Los Angeles, the band was allowed to self produce, thus further enhancing the likelihood that a rougher, more immediate sound could be captured.
“Premonition” didn't disappoint, showcasing the band in an upbeat and, dare we say it, far more aggressive mood, harnessing a sound that leaps out of the speakers and wrestles you to the floor with little room for pleasantries. Naturally, the bands greatest asset was still very much in focus; quality songs with hooks and melodies to die for. Tracks such as "Summer Nights", "Light Of A Thousand Smiles" (inspired by Journey), "Poor Man's Son" and the balls-out rocking of "Chevy Nights" all contain a magical mixture of streamlined efficiency and brutal honesty, resulting in a sound that virtually defined the musical climate.
It certainly turned heads; most notably that of Sylvester Stallone who requested the band write a theme song for his upcoming Rocky III movie.
This album taken out of print in 1999, no longer commercially available. It is, however, available as a pricy, paper sleeved import. . .
65. Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Somewhere In Africa — RM65 . .
Somewhere in Afrika (US Version) Released: 1984 on Arista Records Genre: Rock, Hard rock, Progressive rock
This North American version of “Somewhere in Afrika” features a slightly different track listing than its European counterpart.
It includes "Runner," which reached No. 22 on the Pop Singles Chart, and one track ("Rebel") that was not included on the European release. The album peaked at No. 40 on the Pop Albums Chart.
“Somewhere in Afrika”, an ode to Mann's home country of South Africa, contains a formula that is a typical of Manfred Mann's Earth Band sound. With rhythms that combine an African flavor with a modern rock feel, vocalist Mick Rogers takes over on vocals with the No.22 hit "Runner," released as the album's only single.
Tracks such as "Demolition Man" and "Eyes of Nostradamus" are model Earth Band efforts, but the compelling material lies in songs such as "Lalela," "Koze Kobenini," and the title track, which conveys Mann's love for his birthplace without sounding overly pretentious or manufactured.
The instrumentation is solid and free-flowing, with drums and other percussion work coming to the forefront while maintaining the group's atmosphere as a rock band.
“Somewhere in Afrika” gave Manfred Mann's Earth Band their highest-charting American album since 1976's “The Roaring Silence”, peaking at No.40, but the tight musicianship and unrestricted layout of the music proves that the album should have placed much higher.
Track Listing:
1. Demolition Man 2. Runner 3. Rebel 4. Eyes of Nostradamus 5. Third World Service 6. Somewhere in Africa 7. Tribal Statistics 8. Lalela 9. Redemption Song (No Kwazulu) 10. Africa Suite: Brothers and Sisters of Africa To Bantustan? Koze Kobenini? (How Long Must We Wait?) Brothers and Sisters of Azania
By listenning to this album you are stepping in a misterious but joyful world. You hear things that are strange but pleasant. After this many years I still enjoy listening to the Earth Band. . .

Cyrus
Genre: Rock, Hard rock, Progressive rock
This album is a classic! For all you intelligent rock fans, this album is a must-have! If there's an album that comes close if not equal the great works of The Alan Parsons Projects' "Tales of Mystery & Imagination" or Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon," this enigmatic and hypnotic album is it!
If the melodies and tunes take you to the heavens and the far reaches of space, stay calm. “Angel Station” will bring you back to earth. Thank you, Manfred Mann's Earth Band!
Manfred Mann's Earth Band is a British progressive/classic rock group formed in 1971 by Manfred Mann.
The Earth Band combines the stylistic approach of progressive rock with Mann's jazz-influenced Moog synthesizer playing and keen ear for melody.
Beside producing own material, a staple of the band's music and live performances from the beginning has been also relying on covers of songs by other modern pop/rock artists, notably Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, in MMEB's progressive rock style.
“Angel Station” is an album released in 1979 by Manfred Mann's Earth Band featuring the smash "You Angel You".
“Angel Station” features a six-note descending theme in most of the songs on the album, woven into the context of each song in a different way. "Hollywood Town" and "You Are, I Am" share a common tune and basic arrangement. They occupied almost identical positions on either side of the LP.
The album has the air of an emotional and musical crossword puzzle, or has affinities with the work of M. C. Escher, whose art is alluded to on the cover illustration.
Track Listings:
1. Don't Kill It Carol 2. You Angel You 3. Hollywood Town 4. 'Belle' Of The Earth 5. Platform End 6. Angels At My Gate 7. You Are - I Am 8. Waiting For The Rain 9. Resurrection
The songs are memorable and infectious - they stay in your head for hours. No less, a classic and masterpiece in its own right! Cyrus . .
68. The Moody Blues - Question Of Balance — RM65 .
Genre: Progressive rock
The Moody Blues is an English rock band. Among their innovations was a fusion with classical music, most notably in their 1967 album “Days of Future Passed”.
The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded 14 Platinum and Gold discs. As of 2011 they remain active with one member from the original band from 1964 and two more from the 1967 lineup.
“A Question of Balance”, released in 1970, is the sixth album by The Moody Blues. The album was an attempt by the group to strip down their well-known lush, psychedelic sound in order to be able to better perform the songs in concert.
In order to be able to play as many new songs as possible from their new album live, the group decided (temporarily) to abandon their method of heavy overdubbing for “A Question of Balance”.
For the first time, The Moody Blues used political strife as a basis for songwriting with the British number two hit in May 1970, "Question", which dealt with the controversy resulting from the ongoing Vietnam War.
Released in 1970, the album reached No.1 in the United Kingdom and No.3 in the United States.
Track Listing:
Side One 1. "Question" 2. "How Is It (We Are Here)" 3. "And the Tide Rushes In" 4. "Don't You Feel Small" 5. "Tortoise and the Hare"

. . . 73. Molly Hatchet - The Deed Is Done — RM65 .
Genre: Hard rock, AOR (Album Oriented Rock) Southern rock, Boogie rock, Southern metal, Jam rock.
‘Molly Hatchet’ is an American southern rock band formed in Florida, in 1975. The band, founded by Dave Hlubek and Steve Holland, took its name from a prostitute who allegedly mutilated and decapitated her clients.
“The Deed Is Done” is the 6th. studio album, released in 1984.
The sound of the album is quite different from the southern rock of the band's earlier offerings, completing the transition towards more commercial and FM-friendly hard rock.
On this record, they took a sharp turn into straight forward keyboard-and-guitar-riff heavy metal territory in an effort to gain some popularity with the young heavy-metal audiences.
The first and the best song on here, "Satisfied Man," is an upbeat keyboard-and-guitar-riff anthem that begins with a mid-tempo drumbeat (instead of a fast guitar riff - shocker!), and doesn't let up from there. It's a great driving song with great backing vocals that makes you wanna sing along with it.
The next best song on the album is the MTV hit "Stone In Your Heart", a catchy song with "na-na-na-NA-na" background vocals.
This album is actually very good. Overall, if you're a fan of mid-80's commercial heavy metal, this would be a great LP to add to your collection.

Molly Hatchet - “No Guts...No Glory” Genre: Southern rock, Hard rock.
‘Molly Hatchet’ is an American southern rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1975. They are widely known for their hit song "Flirtin' with Disaster" from the album of the same title.
“No Guts...No Glory” is the fifth studio album by ‘Molly Hatchet’, released in 1983. Original vocalist Danny Joe Brown returns for this recording, with a new rhythm section composed by Riff West and ex-Mother's Finest Barry Borden.
The album contains the popular song "Fall of the Peacemakers", a tribute to John Lennon.
"Fall of the Peacemakers" is a true southern rock gem with an accoustic opening, great lead vocals, and soulful intro and middle lead guitars. The stage is set though, and you will realize this is a wolf in sheeps clothing when the jam starts to kick in. You may even think the song is ending after the vocals stop. Oh boy, dead wrong. The "tripple ripple" guitar attack howls with a two then three guitar harmony lead, followed by separate leads by each guitarists (Roland, Hlubek, and Steve Holland). It's one of those songs that sounds so good you wish it didn't end.
"Both Sides" is a great instrumental jam. "Under the Gun" is a roaring fast song with some excellent guitar tradeoffs by Hlubek and Roland. "What's It Gonna Take?" and "Ain't Even Close" jam as well. This is a very powerful album.
If you love southern rock guitar at it's best...“NO GUTS...NO GLORY” is one of HATCHET'S BEST. Just sit back and enjoy!

The album has sold over “six million copies” since its 1983 release.
Highest chart position:
The album reached No.2 on the Billboard album charts.
Randy Jackson of American Idol fame played bass on 2 tracks including "After The Fall".
"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" was featured in the 2010 film Tron: Legacy and in the 2008 film by Jim Carey "Yes Man".
I'm a die-hard Journey fan, and of all their albums, "Frontiers" is my favorite. This album contains beautiful heartfelt power ballads like "Send Her My Love," "After The Fall," and "Faithfully," and jamming rock anthems like "Seperate Ways," and "Chain Reaction."
The band pours out their heart and soul to you in every song, making you feel every bit of the emotion they are expressing. Their harmonizing blends in beautifully across the pounding drums, energetic electric guitars, and melodic keyboards. Lead singer, Steve Perry's wonderful, distinctive voice brings the whole package home, with the strong, intense feeling he presents in each song.
Journey is a true rock band, and “Frontiers” is the ultimate rock album. If you want heart-thumping rock, and ballads that make you want to throw your hands up and sway from side to side, this is the album for you. "Frontiers" has it all! Cyrus

The band enjoyed a successful reunion in the mid 1990s, and later regrouped with a series of lead singers. Moving Pictures is the eighth studio album by Rush. Rush's popularity reached its pinnacle with the release of Moving Pictures in 1981. Moving Pictures essentially continued where Permanent Waves left off, extending the trend of highly accessible and commercially friendly progressive rock that helped thrust them into the spotlight. The lead track, "Tom Sawyer", is probably the band's best-known song with "Limelight" also receiving satisfactory responses from listeners and radio stations. Moving Pictures was Rush's last album to feature an extended song, the eleven-minute "The Camera Eye". The song also contained the band's heaviest usage of synthesizers up to that point, hinting that Rush's music was shifting direction once more. Moving Pictures reached No.3 on the Billboard 200 album chart and has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Moving Pictures became the band's biggest selling album in the U.S., hitting No.3, and remains the band's most popular and commercially successful studio recording to date. “Signals” is the ninth studio album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released September 9, 1982.
Genre: Hard rock, progressive rock
“Signals” was the follow-up to the successful “Moving Pictures”. Stylistically, the album was a continuation of Rush's foray into the technology-oriented 1980s through increased use of electronic instrumentation such as keyboards, sequencers, and electric violin. Other noticeable changes were decreased average song length and lyrical compression. The album reached No.10 on the Billboard album charts and was certified Platinum (1,000,000 copies sold) by the R.I.A.A. in November 1982.
The opening track from “Signals” is "Subdivisions," which has been a staple of many of the band's tours since its recording.
"New World Man" became a surprise FM radio hit for the band, peaking at No.21 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for three weeks in October and November 1982. It remains the band's highest charting single in the US to date.
“Signals” represented the band's last collaboration with producer Terry Brown, who had co-produced every Rush album since 1975's “Fly by Night”, and had engineered the eponymous first album in 1974.
The Lyrics for "Chemistry" were written by all three band members. It is the last time to date that Lee or Lifeson have contributed lyrics to a Rush song.

Cornerstone was Styx's follow-up to their second consecutive Top 10 selling Triple Platinum album in a row, 1978's Pieces of Eight. Cornerstone became Styx's first US Top 5 album peaking at No.2 on the Billboard album chart and is currently sitting at Double Platinum according to the R.I.A.A. although A&M said it went Triple Platinum (3 million copies sold in the US). . Styx's lead vocals, Dennis DeYoung had two ballads on the album. The first was the album's first single and Styx's only US No.1 single "Babe" which Dennis wrote for his wife Suzanne. . Cornerstone is Styx at their most accessible and melodic. The strength of Cornerstone is clearly the ballads. This is the first album I ever listened to with my first girlfriend and it holds a special spot in my heart. But that is not the only reason I am giving this album 5 stars . It is a masterpiece and should be taught in colleges on how to write Ballads. The songs have feeling and emotion in them. Some Ballads seem to have been scribbled on a piece of paper and thrown together the next day but there is heart and soul in these songs. Styx could make ballads and rock and roll songs, and 'Cornerstone' proves it. If you've never checked out this record or your too afraid to, don't be. This record features many great tunes besides 'Babe.' The whole record is great. . ONE OF STYX BEST ALBUMS . .. .

Genre: Rock, Progressive rock
“Paradise Theater” is the tenth album by the rock band Styx, released in January 1981.
“Paradise Theater” became Styx's only US No.1 album. It was the band's fourth consecutive triple-Platinum album.
A concept album, the album is a fictional account of Chicago's Paradise Theater from its opening to closing (and eventual abandonment), used as a metaphor for America's changing times from the late 1970s into the 1980s.
"The Best of Times", written by band member, Dennis DeYoung, went to No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Too Much Time on My Hands", written by Tommy Shaw, went to No.9 on the Billboard Hot 100, Shaw's only top 10 hit for Styx. "Rockin' The Paradise" - written by DeYoung, Shaw and James Young - went to No.1 on the Top Rock Track Chart.
