How It Works: Shotz Energy Gel
Our Shotz Energy Gel is a ground-breaking, great tasting gel that stimulates your mind, fuels your body and makes you feel good. Thanks to some of the latest developments in nutritional science, Shotz Energy Gel dissolves quickly into your system and gives your mind and muscles a perfectly measured dose of natural complex grain carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are what make our bodies tick and the natural reserves we carry can run out very quickly after periods of exertion, leading to fatigue and loss of control. With Shotz Energy Gel these carbohydrate reserves receive a scientifically measured "top up", meaning your muscles and mind continue to perform at their peak - even after you've put yourself through your paces. Keep on the go, while you're on the move.

Who Should Use It: Shotz Energy Gel
Fuel up while you're on the go Shotz Energy Gels are the ideal food for any and every type of sport. Whether you are a serious athlete or recreational the Shotz Energy Gels can benefit anyone looking for a quick source of energy.
When to use Shotz Energy Gels is dependent on what type of activity you are doing and at what intensity. In training, for instance, ideally you would consume a Shotz Energy Gel every 1 hour. For competition ideally you would consume a Shotz Energy Gel 10 minutes before the start and every 30 – 40 minutes during.
What type of sport do you do?
Running/Cycling/Triathlon
No matter what distance you prefer each of these sports requires a lot of energy to get you from the start line to the finish. Getting to the start line and in good form requires a fair amount of sacrifice. What is interesting is that for most of you competition is made up of only 2 – 3% and training takes up 96 – 97%. So making sure you follow a sound nutrition strategy in your training will allow you to ensure you can benefit from each session. Using Shotz Energy Gels during your training sessions will provide both energy for a solid workout, plus lessen the requirement on recovery. For all you mountain bikers keep in mind that for your sport, particularly in down-hilling and single track, there is a significant amount of energy required by the brain to process information in super quick time. The brain relies heavily on a continuous supply of glucose via the bloodstream to assist in decision making. Low glucose/energy levels will impact heavily on how quickly you can react. Even the slightest mistake can put you in the dirt. Packing some Shotz Gels for your next assault on the trails is a smart move.
Racquet sports/Ball sports/Golf
Apart from the energy used up having to run around, any sport that involves hand/eye co-ordination and skill and decision making places even more reliance on our energy stores. The brain already uses a whopping 70% of our available blood glucose. In these types of sports our reliance on the brain to process information to perform a particular task is increased and therefore taxes our energy reserves faster. As most of us can attest to when we start getting fatigued we tend to make more unforced errors. The brain is heavily reliant on glucose for energy, consuming Shotz Energy Gels during the game will ensure the active muscles are energised and your mind is on the job.
Boxing/Martial Arts
Not too much different from the sports above although I would prefer missing a backhand shot down the line, or missing a goal, as opposed to wearing a left hook flush on the jaw. There is a massive amount of energy required for your sport. Maintaining your energy levels is good practice to ensure your active muscles are energised, your brain is receiving the correct fuel to function at its optimum level and keep you off the canvas. Because these sports are generally indoors with very little air flow there is the potential for significant fluid loss, making sure you are drinking regularly to replace your sweat loss is good practice.
Motor Sports
The sheer logistics of consuming food and fluid on the go in your sport is near impossible. Keep in mind the temperatures you are exposed to, the protective clothing which inhibits evaporation of sweat (the body's natural cooling system) and heart rates and energy expenditure to match the speed you are travelling. Given you have to process information at phenomenal speed, ensuring you have energy rich food to fuel the brain is super important in your sport. Minimising the amount of mistakes while piloting a race car or bike at high speed is paramount not only to your performance but your safety. Pre-event and post event energy/ hydration strategies are the key to performing at your peak in these types of sports.

Absolutely not! There is no fructose in Shotz Energy Gel and for good reason. Glucose molecules, which are the building blocks of sucrose, can be metabolised (used) by any and every cell in the human body. This is not so with fructose. Word on the Street:
Gus here from Drapac Porsche. Pat, Lachie and I are currently in the USA racing and training before Europe. We brought over a batch of shotz electrolyte tabs and shotz gels to train and race with and now everybody, including other professional riders want to trade with us!! Especially the shotz electrolyte tablets. The product is, as always, fantastic and the new flavours are great. Thanks for giving us some extra so we can use it for training and in the races over here. Anyway I just wanted to thankyou for supporting us and let you know what a great job you guys are doing! Gus, Drapac Porsche I’m addicted to the shotz tablets and energy bars. I spoke to you re: consistently cramping after 3 hours. These tablets are amazing. I have been bashing out 4-5 hour rides without a hint of cramping. After years of trying all sorts of concoctions to avoid cramps it looks like I have finally found a remedy. Thank you so much. I can finally start to enjoy my riding once again. Love your work guys. Ross, Victoria Like many other endurance cyclists, I had been stalked by the dreaded cramp monster. Although I had tried to shake him with magnesium bullets and potassium grenades, no matter how hard I tried he was there at every start line just waiting to pounce and cause me unbearable agony. With the Crocodile Trophy and its 6 hour days in 50 degree heat looming large, I was seriously doubting my ability to be able to complete the race. My nutritional deficiencies were the aspect of my preparation that was causing the most grief which is never an ideal situation. In virtual desperation and based on some inklings I'd had about their unique system of separating the electrolyte intake from the carbohydrate, I turned to Shotz. The half hour chat I had with the Shotz crew over the phone that day has by far been the single best investment in my cycling that I have ever made. In addition to clearing up some common misconceptions about sports nutrition, he also identified a few fundamental flaws in my training which ultimately resulted in a 100% cramp free Scott24hr Solo AND Crocodile Trophy. To date, I have still not had a single cramp on the bike and can not recommend Shotz highly enough. The ability to tailor my electrolyte intake using the Shotz tablets was invaluable during the Croc as the long hot days required a greater than usual sodium intake. With an ordinary sports drink, this is simply not possible as the sugar content would be so high as to cause GI distress. Using the gels and bars though I could keep my carb intake consistent while modifying the sodium intake as required. An unexpectedly pleasant side effect too was the total lack of that sticky residue that sugar based drinks always seem to leave all over my bottles... and my frame... and my legs... and my gloves... and my face! You 24 solo guys know what I'm on about. Although individual needs will be affected by many variables including physiology, environmental conditions and the type of cycling you are doing, there are a set of fundamental principles about sports nutrition that do apply to everyone and simply need to be tailored to suit an individuals needs. Shotz not only gives you that flexibility but is also based on solid scientific data rather than the "unbelieveable" properties of that newly discovered juice that is collected by monks who hand massage a very rare berry found only on the southern slopes of an island in the middle of the pacific ocean. While there are no magic bullets for the cramp monster, you can take him down with a few well placed Shotz! Shane, ACT
"Your products seriously work – I must admit I was sceptical – but now I’m hooked. Oh yeah and the Shotz tabs are so easy to use I never go for a long ride now without taking some with me." Steve, WA
"No more cramping! I just wanted to let you know how stoked I am with your Shotz tabs I am a keen cyclist and suffer cramping regularly. Not anymore though. Thanks." Anthony, Victoria
