Yoga Zone has created a friendly, non-intimidating environment that welcomes beginner students as well as more experienced yogis of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels to come and enjoy the incredible benefits of yoga. Yoga Zone has strived to make your studio experience as welcoming and exhilarating as possible. All Yoga Zone instructors are certified and have passed the in-depth Yoga Zone Teacher Training program or equivalent. Yoga Zone instructors continue to train under Yoga Zone founder and developer of ISHTA Yoga, Yoga Master Alan Finger, and other master yogis to ensure that our teaching remains of the highest caliber.
Yoga Zone classes are structured to include a physical yoga workout, an emphasis on complete breathing, a guided meditation and a relaxing cool down. Each class is tailored to address the individual needs and experience of the student. Yoga Zone offers a full schedule of group classes in varying levels to accommodate your fitness ability and yoga knowledge. We have instructors available for private sessions. Yoga Zone also offers Beginner Orientations weekly, and is continually developing special events and workshops for your growth and enhancement.
We are now also offering Anusara Yoga founded by John Friend. Anusara integrates the celebration of the heart, universal principles of alignment, and balanced energy action in asana practice. It blends artistic expression with the scientific principles of bio mechanics making Anusara a safe, therapeutic and deeply transformative style of yoga.
This variation on the popular power-yoga style, as is the unfortunate case with many yoga tapes, moves both into and through its program too quickly, with virtually no warm-up or introductory instruction (especially in breathing techniques) for the uninitiated. For that reason, among others, it is not recommended for newcomers. The more experienced, however, will certainly get the "challenging, athletic workout" the tape promises. Instructor Lisa Bennett is cheerful as she conducts a vigorous series of sun salutes, balancing poses, backbends, hip and abdominal poses, and such; you'll keep moving almost constantly, and if breaking a sweat is your goal, you can't go wrong here. The overall tone, however, is rather like an infomercial, which could become irritating over repeated viewings. ^^Sam Graham

We have created a series of easy-to-follow videos/DVDs geared to you, the new or returning student to yoga, that make it possible for you to enhance your practice over time as your ability increases. You have two collections to choose from, our Premiere Series offering 55-minute yoga sessions in the studio with Alan Finger and our senior teachers, or our Classic Collection boasting two 20-minute sessions direct from our TV series location in beautiful Jamaica’s Grand Lido Sans Souci resort in Ochos Rios. You can enhance learning yoga by reading all about yoga, our Introduction To Yoga book, authored by Yoga Zone founder, Yoga Master Alan Finger. This is a wonderful beginner’s guide to yoga, fitness, health and relaxation. This book offers you clear step-by-step yoga instruction with demonstrative photographs to get you on your way, as well as giving you the history of yoga, defining the yoga terms you may have heard before, and guides you through mediation and relaxation.
WHAT DO EQUIPMENT DO I NEED (SUGGESTED ACCESSORIES)?
No matter which avenue you take to get started, there are some essential yoga essentials that you will need for your practice.
 Yoga Mats
The mat is the yoga essential to provide you with a cushiony, non-slip, safe surface for your hands and feet. When you move into a yoga position, you don’t want to lose your balance _ practicing on the floor, carpet or a towel does not provide the same firmness.
 Yoga Blocks
Yoga blocks are helpful no matter what your flexibility or fitness level is. Placed under the hands, feet or buttocks, they provide support to help maintain correct form by extending your reach. If you have shorter arms or lack the flexibility to reach the floor, you can rest your hands on a block instead. If your hips are tight and sitting cross-legged is difficult, sitting on a block is helpful. For an extra strength-building challenge you can place a block between your legs while practicing certain backward bending or alignment postures.
 Yoga Straps
Yoga straps come in 6’ and 8’ lengths and, like blocks, have a variety of uses. For those who are less flexible, they make reaching your toes easier when seated and bending forward. Yoga straps also make it possible to learn more challenging balancing or backward bending postures without putting excess strain on the muscles or joints.
