Normal and cheap soldering iron nowadays cannot fulfill the demand of board repair, as board overheating will damage the PCB pads and traces during rework session. Therefore, to opt for a better soldering iron for reworking purpose, we strongly recommend you this temperature controlled soldering iron. The temperature controller is governed by a temperature IC for precision control operations, which the temperature can be adjusted via a small potentiometer on the handle side. Conform to ROHS, the heater is a ceramic type and heats up pretty fast, comes with working/heating LED lights in the instructions.
