What is World of Warcraft? WoW is an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) online game where internet players of all ages from all over the world, assume the roles of fantasy heroic characters, and explore a virtual world full of mystery, magic and adventure. Each character has a specific set of skills and abilities. There are 3 main roles – tank (eg warrior), damage dealer (eg mage), and healer (eg priest). Some character classes, eg druids, can play all 3 roles; whilst others like warlocks are strictly damage dealers. There are 2 large opposing factions: Alliance - Humans - Dwarves - Gnomes - Elves - Draenei - Worgen
Horde - Orcs - Trolls - Tauren - Forsaken - Blood elves - Goblins The harmonious Pandaren stand in between these opposing sides - in the name of balance or personal philosophy, they may join either faction! The core gameplay of WoW revolves around fighting monsters and completing quests. Your character progresses and gets stronger as it gains experience, new skills, and more powerful items (eg weapons) and equipment (just like real life J). There are currently 4 full-fledged expansions: - The Burning Crusade - Wrath of the Lich King - Cataclysm - Mists of Pandaria
Weapons can be categorised into: - Axes - Bows / Crossbows - Guns - Maces - Polearms - Swords - Staves - Fist weapons - Daggers - Thrown weapons - Wands
